JAR has completed the modifications to his F/A-18C Hornet home cockpit to incorporate the MOZA AB9 Force Feedback Base. A better AB9 FFB review by my good friend Graywolf (Jester): • Moza AB9 Force Feedbac...

I think all the people raving about this stick initially never tried a buttkicker. I have 3 buttkickers on my rig so I couldn't care less about the telemetry settings. It didn't feel near as good as my hydraulic gooseneck setup I already had. I was going to return it until I tried the F16 set up with pressure sensitivity. Now THAT is cool!!! I kept it and even though I am only into women I mounted it as a side stick and only use it for the 16.

@@JAR-STINGERS Your welcome! A lot of guys I fly side stick and I love saying things like that. I do enjoy it now though, but feel sorry for people with a side stick flying a Huey. Just thinking about it gives me the same feeling like when you shake someone's hand and it's limp and clammy. Yuck

@@baaamakingbaaaaha ha yeah if I had limitless funds I’d love to mount one as a side stick for the F-16 too. I never realised how cool it would feel to fly with the small movement/ pressure stick.

@JAR-STINGERS I don't know, Jar... You have a F/A-18 cockpit in your house, don'tcha? That's pretty cool to me. 👍🏻💪🏻 I hate wars, but been in love with Hornet since I first played F/A-18 Interceptor in 1991 on my friend's Amiga. 😏🤷🏼

Great overview Jar! I too had some initial difficulties getting the right profiles to load automatically. When in doubt, I manually load from the settings/slider looking icon. I've adjusted the "stock" Huey profile, and feel I've got it about as close to the real deal as I can. The DOF H3, buttkicker, HF8 seat pad and now Moza base along with the virpil collective pretty much sealed the deal for me. I'll never go back to no FFB, just like I'll never go back to non-VR!
@JAR-STINGERS10 күн бұрын
@@drussell15 thanks Doogie! I posted a reply but can’t see it so here’s another one🤣. I can’t wait to try your new Huey profile. Yes I agree that it would be hard to fly with a non FFB base again. It is as big a leap as VR - I agree.

I wonder how I performs and how much adjustment and the mechanism can be done with the stick extension attached?
@JAR-STINGERS10 күн бұрын
MOZA sell a yaw axis extension which is more than twice as long as the AVA so I think they have it factored in. I guess the intention with the AXIS Travel limits is to allow you to factor in how much deflection you need. Personally the AVA extension makes the movement look 1:1 to me when I look in-game so I really love it!

i like the stick a lot so far, only thing is the F14 after the recent update seems to just always vibrate, and the profile selection makes me scroll through 20 presets just to find mine

Cheers Breezy I haven’t spent much time with the new update as I am actually still in NZ for another week. They seem to be committed to making it better which is a good sign.

Does DCS not have a Hornet FFB implementation that is realistic? Do you really have to guesstimate your individual jet profiles in the app?
@JAR-STINGERS10 күн бұрын
@@algroyp3r yes I already had the profile loaded, apologies I didn’t show the loading of the Hornet profile. I altered it for reasons explained in the video - increased SPRING due to added AVA extension, adjusted Y Axis to make pitch oscillation less.

Well the real hornet stick is really just a spring and damper stick (with actuators for pitch trim in mech backup mode) tho. So no actual need for telemetry or a stick shaker. Probably it's the shaking of the physical stick that causes the virtual stick to shake. Sure it's a way to simulate the airframe shaking but IMO bass shaker is a better choice..if you have one. No need for so called G-effect as there is no bobweight in the hornet to provide G-related feedback; and no Q-feel, bellow what not to provide dynamic pressure/airspeed feedback.
@JAR-STINGERS8 күн бұрын
Yes I don’t have any bass shakers. The base is nice though if you get the chance to try one it’s pretty impressive.
@NanaHoshi358 күн бұрын
@@JAR-STINGERS Yeah well-made FFB base would feel far better and realistic than any gaming stick base out there even when it's simulating the a spring stick. Especially the damper. And it can simulate the breakout force, asymmetric travel etc. that are on most real aircraft.

While it's glad to see more companies are jumping on the FFB bandwagon with a reasonable price..but sadly it's learned that moza has "stolen/copied" the code from VPForce's TelemFFB software while not give credit to the latter nor opensource the software, which violates the opensource license..
