Popp brought a timbre that was both light and high yet warm, trembling and tinged with death. She was an interesting singer and her appoggia of breath and leaning in and out of tension in the voice really captured the Mozartian style of the 18thC. Her premature death was a large loss for the music world.

Absolutely right Mr. Chungchi hui. I fell in love with these immortals in the late 80s, when I heard this Mozart's masterpiece and his Requiem for the first time without understanding a single word but moved by immense beauty.

Nova Scotia, Canada June 2020. We chatted in the comments section of another Lucia Popp video. I hope you are doing well and things are going better in Tokyo with COVID. I used to work for a wonderful Czech gentleman who was very, very sad when Lucia Popp passed away, so I learned about her the day she died. I wish I had had the chance to see her in person, Lucia Popp has the most beautifiul voice I have ever heard.
