The K stands for Kochel. In the 1800s a man named Ludwig Ritter von Kochel made a catalog of all the works of Mozart arranged in chronological order as far as Kochel was able to determine. Since Mozart wrote over 600 works, this piece with Kochel number 15 was one of Mozart's earliest compositions.
