Classical music showcases the sophistication and talent of composers and performers. I often view it as the pinnacle of art.

It's a shame this wasn't a full opera, such great music!

Mozart's shame??? Mozart was too wise and HE, HIS genious didn't want more writing this libretto: life is short and Mozart had to create his new theater universe with ENTFÜHRUNG, FIGARO etcc...

@@canaleteatrale6662 I think we have a misunderstanding in translation here. Che cosa significa ‘It’s a shame’?

It’s not really accurate to label Thamos an opera, it was a play for which Mozart was asked to add some incidental stage music. Mozart provided choruses and some orchestral interludes and the music was added to and revised for different productions in Vienna and Salzburg in the 1770’s; it does have a slightly operatic feel to it. The music in the 1780’s was re-used in another play, and one item was I believe given Latin words and became a contrafactum. Mozart always believed that the music would outlive the play; unfortunately for today’s audiences, detached from its stage context, whilst the music is very fine, it does not make a particularly effective concert item.

@@elaineblackhurst1509 You see, "shame" means peccato (also vergogna) in the first posting, not by me - I opposite against. Mozart had no complet the score: he himself didn't want it. Shame, che peccato (o vergogna): all is without real meaning in this case, because Mozart wroted indeed ENTFÜHRUNG, FIGARO etcc... :-)
