I mean, not to diss Mozart's skill, but he did have his father, who was a renowned musician himself, gave up his career in order to give his full time/attention to teach Mozart and Mozart's sister. Variation #2... quite grand. #5 just screams, "Hey, this is MOZART here. Pay attention!" as does #11 #6 is quite elegant. The perfect classical piano example. and just to show that you can add emotion to it, we have #7 and #10 #9 is almost worthy of Beethoven. and you have to finish with a bit of flash! Love it!

I'm actually happy I learned the composer of this wonderful song through Your Lie in April. I love Classical Music and Orchestral but to hear this song in different variations when I only know the nursery rhyme before YLIA, this hits me so hard. This melody is the basis for at least 3 lyrics that I know. 1st there's one's English abcs. 2nd there's twinkle little star. & 3rd there's ba ba black sheep nursery rhyme. My understanding is that this comes from a French nursery rhyme about dislike of reasoning while wanting sweets.thus ah vows dirai-je maman!

It is to be noted that this is a variation by Mozart of the famous French children hymn "Ah , vous dirai-je , maman" that was already popular by Mozart's time and inspired the English variant "Twinkle twinkle ,little star". Mozart did not invent the song or the melody, he just embellished them a little.

He wrote the original when he was either four or five (some scholarly disagreement as to which it was), not seven. He wrote the variants when he was a bit older The very first variation on here is the original that he wrote at age four or five.
