Wow! It is amazing to me that the back up instrument is doing more work than the featured instrument. I like the period instruments as well. Imagine what Mozart's reaction to a full sized Steinway would be.

The slow movement is one of my favourite piece, it is so - what to say - moving, calming, inner singing of soul, a complete harmony, a quiet talk between two instruments/souls.

Just for the heck of it, I entered "classical music" into Pandora one day. This number came on after some time and I was dumb struck. What a brilliant work. Thanks so much for uploading it!

I'm loving that fortepiano. Beautifully played.

I'm also noticing a difference in pitch in the overall performance.

A very intelligent and polished performance that obeys Mozarts original dynamics in the second movement. VIolin and piano sound 'as one' which I have never heard in a performance of this piece before. Well done.

I simply love this song! It's a very fun piece to play on the violin, and it has the perfect "classical" amount to please my ear. The period instruments add an excellent vibe to the music; it sounds very authentic. It's a very happy piece! Great sonata! :)

Interesting, now, after 5 months, I start to like these period instruments so much better than modern instrument. I don't know the reason, but they just sounds better. Thank you oopie47 for these wonderful performances on period instruments. I'm downloading ALL of these in my ipod right now, replacing the modern instruments ones I had before :)

Yes, the keyboard instrument often had a much more interesting and note-filled (!) part than the string or wind instrument at this time, but Mozart's violin sonatas chart the journey from the violin being an optional accompaniment (see Sonata K 7) to an equal partner (see Sonata K 377 or K 526)...fascinating progression! :)

I do see the difference in pitch, just not how it lose it's beauty when played at higher pitch.

It really makes a difference whether a piece is played on period instruments - I've heard the first movement on modern and this is a thousand times better; tis what it was written for! :)

delightful - yea the fp sounds like a cross between a modern piano and a harpsichord - the term violin sonata appears to be a misnomer - perhaps it should be called a duo for violin and piano - thanks oppie
