Fun Fact: In the Transformers 1986 movie, Ultra Magnus was originally supposed to be pulled apart by the Sweeps in his death scene on Junkion. In fact, Magnus' death cries in the final film still seem to indicate this scene made it as far as the recording stage. However, this scene was replaced with one where he is shot to death in the final cut, as being pulled apart was considered too violent for a kids movie... A kids movie where your childhood heroes are blasted, crushed, melted from the inside, pummeled to death, throw into space, and ruduced to a blackened, crumbling husk.

Outside of price, my biggest issue with Masterpiece Ultra Magnus is that he doesn't have his Prime Rip-off mode (or as I call it, Nudey Magnus) I know these are meant to be show accurate and he never uses that form in the show, but it's one of the most iconic parts of the character. Not a deal breaker, but somewhat annoying.

I remember when i got my G-1 Ultra Magnus as a kid. That’s all i always wanted on birthdays and Christmas and or outing. Transformers, He-Man, Gobots, Thunder Cats, Rock Lords, Silver Hawks and Mask toys and still want them as an adult😂😂

I remember a few years ago they re did the G1 Thundercats with a limited run of Lion-O (which I got) and Tigra. Id have loved to have a Chetara and Panthro but I dont think they made them. Oh man the Silver Hawks was a great wee show but never got any of the figures for them but did get a few for M.A.S.K which I still have somewhere.

I am really impressed with this masterpiece series. I love all the extra little details they add so the figures are like they were in the animated series. I’m glad they didn’t go cheesy and just use the MP-10 Prime painted white like they did for the G1 figure.

When you pick this up, it doesn't compare to the heft of Fans Toys; artistically, it can't compare to things by like Toyworld/Threezero; size doesn't even come close to the KO Jinbao etc. BUT, when you transform it between modes and back...the magic is there. It's fun, it's nostalgic and shelf presence is phenomenal. I'm glad I saw this from emgo316 even though it's now 2021. This piece is officially one of my favorites!

Ultra Magnus is the most emasculated Transformer. From the movie to the TV series to the comic books he's always portrayed as a weakling. The only time he became a badass is in TF Prime but even then he gets beat up by stronger Decepticons. Two things can be counted upon with any Transformers series: Optimus will die and Magnus will get his butt whipped again and again and again...

I figured you got rid of Stacks and you're right here is an example of a figure that we would have excepted as "official" like we did with quake wave but Hasbro kicked their teeth out as their right. Ultra Magnus was probably too popular a figure for a 3rd party to review. I went back on your review and what I've come up with is... Citizen Stacks looks like a modern update on the Ultra Magnus toy where MP-22 looks like a great reproduction of the animated cartoon. BUT. Stacks has more articulation and NO BUT FLAP.

I absolutely love this Masterpiece, he's just all kinds of awesome. I enjoy these Masterpieces for what they are, so silly things like buttflaps don't bother me at all. I was really excited to get this guy, as he is my first large Masterpiece. With MP10 being be re-released this May, at a price I can actually afford, having both of these guys has me all kinds of happy. Of course, I have Masterpiece Star Saber on order, so my MP collection will now have all kinds of towering leaders goodness. I'm kind of hoping MP25 won't be announced until later this summer, so I can buy seconds on a few of my other Masterpieces to display on Magnus' hauler. Great Review, as always : )

i don't know why but seeing the ramp tabs on the trailer, reminded me of how i once built a knex ferris wheel but something was wrong the wheel wouldn't rotate cleanly so i spent the next two hours (not even joking) trying to space the axels differently away from the support strut i eventually gave up and started tearing it down and i noticed that just one of the beams in the entire left hand strut wasn't attached properly putting the whole thing off kilter but by that time i wanted to die so i swept the entire 2 pound construct off my desk in anger

If any Transformers figures are worth collecting, then it would be these masterpiece figures. Can't wait to see whats next after Exhaust and Star Sabre :) I've heard a rumor about it might be Jazz or Galvatron :P If thats true, then I hope for Jazz. I want a new MP Megatron before a Galvatron :P
