While he is a vast improvement over MP-09 transformation and stability-wise, MP-09 did look more cartoon-accurate. MP-28 holds together in robot mode a million times better, though. All things considered, I hold out hope that Takara will give us a better Rodimus Prime like they've done here with the standard Hot Rod - in other words, with a better transformation and sturdier/more solid connection-points. The biggest goal would be for it to just be Rodimus, that way it could have a much better Space Winnebago mode that isn't super gimmicked up like MP-09 was.

Nice review. I don't have very many of the Masterpiece figures, but I do very much like this one. Mine does have a slight tendency to fall over on occasion, so it's not just your version, though mine's not quite as prone to fainting spells. I fully agree that when transforming MP-28 there's no fear of something breaking like there is with MP-9. Maybe if this figure does well, maybe we'll get a Rodimus Prime v2 that skips the growth and dual-vehicle mode gimmicks. BTW, as a point of interest/amusement to those that might have the Toys'R'Us Rodimus Prime version, MP-28 can hold onto the Targetmaster figure pretty well. Sadly, the Targetmaster is a bit heavy for his arms, which will quickly droop if you try to have Hot Rodimus in a "shoot 'em up" pose.

Hey, thurr, Emgo! Great review. Concerning your issue with the ankles and his backward falling; Have you tried bending him at the knees a bit and posing him that way? It should move his center of gravity forward a bit, and help put less weigh in the back. Won't tighten the ankle joints themselves, obviously, but it should help them stay up better. I don't have this particular figure in-hand yet, so I can't speak to that personally, but I've had similar issues with weak ankles on other figures, and posing them with knees slightly bent usually helps. If that doesn't help, you might also want to try SLIGHTLY turning his legs/feet outward, so that his feet are not pointing straight forward and backward. having them at an angle with the point facing back would make it more difficult for the ankle joints to both fall back at the same time, since they'd be at slightly opposing angles.

I never really saw MP-09 as a bad toy. Yeah, the first run had some issues, but the key word there is *first run*. I wish people would at least acknowledge that the second release exists and fixed a lot of the issues with the first run, turning it from a somewhat mixed bag to a decent toy.
