Well done, Marc. Videography in this one was solid. I've appreciated this series of family videos. The last scene in this one between you and your son reminds me how much I miss my father (RIP). Thank you.

Belts are better for the ride quality, which is very important when flying down roads/trails at 20mph+. Hubs are good for cost/range/reliability/noise/rolling but nothing beats having more thane for shock absorption which ultimately means your odds of keeping your feet on the board are substantially higher. Less fatigue as well. Excited to see more lower cost belt options.

Just adding a quick comment. Your mention of direct drive for commuting is exactly why I went with the Verreal F1 instead of getting the vastly more powerful RS. I have one the the very first Meepo boards that I have been commuting with for almost 4 years. The urethane on the rear wheels is shot, and the battery case is held together with tape. I have also replaced the battery. It would have cost me a couple hundred more dollars to get the Meepo back into shape, or I could spend $300 to get a whole new board. Decided on the new board instead. The F1 is super smooth and perfect for my 2 mile commute. I ride every day the streets are dry, even in the middle of winter. Keep skating and stay safe!

Love the addition of the drone footage. I noticed it in yesterday’s video. It gives another great angle to your vids, and a bit of visual contrast. Will we be seeing you comparing drones like you do skateboards at some point? #askelvis Keep it up Marc and Happy Birthday from Canada Leo!!

There's a good reason that Cecil schumacher decided on belt drive for his championship winning RC cars, they deliver power really well and cheap to replace #SchumacherRc. Great video and wow what a present 🤙💯❤️

Clearly the direct drive is superior Oh, you're talking skateboards, not steering wheels 😜
@LogiForce865 жыл бұрын
Well, same with sim racing wheels basically. The belt driven wheels can have a smaller package due to the gearing and makes it easier to get it in the right performance ballpark in terms of speed versus torque, yet with a DD system you can really only change it up with size of the motor. Which let's be honest... huge DD motors on a skateboard will end up looking silly. Not to mention that the more copper (windings) goes in a motor, the more expensive it gets and these skateboards are already too expensive for my taste.

Lucky lad! One #AskElvis question, do some boards have a MGU-K to regen some energy into the board in order to maximise range? Great to see an Electric Tuesday back, sadly no Sting. How’s the tree house this year????
@F1Elvis5 жыл бұрын
Yes, all electric boards use regenerative braking to extend range...

Hi there, bit of a question if anyone can answer. I have just ordered a hub motor board and now I'm wondering if they may be susceptible to damage from shock from going over joints or rough ground. As the motor has no isolation from the wheel as with belt. Have not seen this mentioned anywhere thank you or anyone that can answer.

I've done many miles with both types and never had any issues with either.

I would not give my son a belt drive as he will fall (ESC is very jerky). Vestarboard V2 pro seems to be the best belt drive at the moment with the hobbywing in the cheap segment. Probably direct drive is the best way to go but there are no choices except for FABI's board. The Sanyo is a must have as I dislike the Samsung batteries. I own the Verreal F1 and ownboard W1s. I'm afraid to go away from the Sanyo batteries as they are so good.

So you are happily breaking the law then? There is no way these are legal on public roads - completely irresponsible.
@TCV125 жыл бұрын
Funny you should say this... There is actually a grey area in the law about these. It's technically illegal but most police forces in the UK will not give you a ticket for riding one on public streets. It's much like electric scooters or bicycles, they are also technically illegal but nobody will prosecute (unless you are being dangerous)
@VittorioJanus5 жыл бұрын
I received a document from the Metropolitan Police via my my Neighbourhood Watch coordinator. It states that Electric Scooters are defined as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEV) and cannot be used on public roads or footpaths. Electric bikes are defined as Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPC) and, so long as they have pedals that work, and meets a number of other rules they are OK. It says nothing about skate boards but they appear to be closer to a PLEV than an EAPC. However, it would appear that the principle objection to PLEVs is the lack of speed. Since Marc has demonstrated a skateboard to be the equal of London traffic, you could make a case for treating them the same as an EAPC. How gray is this area?
@TCV125 жыл бұрын
@@VittorioJanus Because the law is a "catch-all" law where it says that any motorised object which is not registered is not road legal.
@VengD2 жыл бұрын
You have some pretty fucking weird laws in the UK... Here, wear a helmet and stick to the bike paths. If there's no bike paths, you can ride on the side of the road. Pretty much the same rules as bikes. Only difference, electric skateboards (And scooters) aren't allowed on roads where cars can drive faster than 50kmt, if there's no bike path to ride on. So... You can ride anywhere within city limits. And most country side roads have bike paths.
