Great review! I actually have the same pistol, an early version. Also just ordered the newer aggressive grips for it (yes, you can now buy the pistol from their site with the grips you want.). I couldn't agree more on all the points you made so well. I love mine. It shoots really smoothly with the crisp 2lb trigger, and for me, has been flawless. Speaking of aggressive, I love the cuts on the slide. It's a beauty. BTW, I've also shot it side-by-side with an Atlas Artemis. Let's just say they are both pretty much perfect guns. But the DS9 is literally half the price. Thanks for sharing!

The current MPA DS9 pistols seem to be ready to go out the box, I am at just over 1000 rounds in mine with not one single issue. Did my standard ammo and accuracy test with 13 different factory loads and this thing is amazing! The Staccato and Atlas in about twice the price and do not shoot any better, the Atlas is equal in accuracy but the Staccato not so much. MPA all the way baby !

Very impressive 2011. The front slide cuts look great. I too go for the most aggressive grip texture.

An aggressive grip texture does not mean more grip. You want maximum surface area contact, if that isn't enough, maybe it's time to work on technique.

thats an early model made by an armorer that no longer works for them. If you contact mpa they'll upgrade the gun for free... they replaced my grip/magwell/ grip saftey/saftey/trigger and sometimes the barrel. You can identify the new ones because they have pinned grip safteys and the "m" trigger and the aggressive grips.

BJ do you know if the aggressive grip is the " A3" listed on there site. I just shot a gun store owners DS9 and did not like the grip. He was not sure what grip he had on it. Thanks
@BigJohnsonGG Жыл бұрын
They offer a regular (most come with the regular / standard) and then an aggressive and mine was the standard and this grip now is the aggressive. I’m not sure on the listing but you could call the customer service department tomorrow and ask them just to be sure. The aggressive has the deeper dimples in the grip.

How wide is the ds9.?. I really want it but have to make sure it will fit my hand.I shoot xdms in Idpa and they fit great, but i really want a mpa or a vudoo priest. Whenever i handle a 1911 i have issues reaching mag release and slidestop.It seems like i have to shift the gun in my hand to hit mag release and slidestop.Have you shot the vudoo priest, and if so which grip is bigger/wider? Also how do triggers Compare? Trigger weight and reset.I don't have small hands and i dont have big hands.I would say medium.I have no problem dropping slide or my mag release.I know 2011s have bigger grips and things.Based on what i told you do you think i Can shoot the mpa-ds9-?The ds9 is a wide body also.I ask this because of my hand size and how i told you i had issues in the past not being able to reach mag release or slide stop without really shifting my hand.Please let me know what you think about whether i would be able to shoot the mpa due to its size and the controls. The vudoo looks not as big in the grip.Thank you. I want to make the right choice the first time because that is a lot of money to spend to get a gun and not be able to shoot it.Thank you!.
@BigJohnsonGG Жыл бұрын
If a 1911 is hard for you it’s going to more difficult on a 2011 because it’s a double stack. Many smaller handed people shoot both and 2011’s and just adapt their grips and drop the slide with their weak hand. For me to say which one is best for YOU from reading a comment is not realistic, I e never seen your grip or anything. Most 2011’s grips are kind of standard in size for you to just get an idea if one will work for you personally or not. Feel is a very personal thing for each person, good luck on your decision.
@timothygarrity5181 Жыл бұрын
@BigJohnsonGG Thanks for replying!. I do use a high thumbs forward grip usually.I guess if i shot uspsa with the ds9 i wouldn't really have tp worry as much about dropping the slide because normally you don't go to slide lock.If i got the idpa version of the ds9 i would have to worry about dropping the slide because you always go to slide lock in idpa.I have shot it for years.There are 2 versions of the ds9, idpa ds9 has the butler cut and uspsa ds9 has full dust cover i believe.None of my local gun stores has any 2011s so i will just have to chance it.If i can't shoot it i could probably sell it to one of the shooters i know probably.Thanks again!.

Thank you! This helps. I am also looking for aggressive grip, like you said, I don’t my DNA to be on the grip kind of aggressiveness. I am looking for DS40 which comes with two grips, aluminum and stainless steel. There is a price difference. I don’t mind aluminum as long as it has the aggressiveness that gives checked marks on the palm. Not the gold ball texture.
