Aapka example solid hai, about kids who have undergone truama. ... Yahaan Quasi (Non- equivalent control group) isliye hogaa... Suppose, we are checking "influence of childhood truama on academic performance" ... yahaan aapka experimental group "kids with trauma" hi ho saktaa hai ... aap random sample of kids lekar unhein "with trauma" aur "without trauma" mein random assign kar hi nahin sakte, it is logistically impossible. Saath hi, it will be absurdly cruel to cause trauma in children (make no mistake, ye animal experiments mein kiyaa jaataa hai ... bandar ke bachchon ko as an experiment orphan kiyaa jaataa hai, rats ko shock treatment & starve kiyaa jaataa hai...)... therefore it is also ethically impossible. Yahaan ek automatic Non- equivalent control group - kids without trauma banegaa. Suppose we are studying "effect of having a pet dog on anxiety levels of kids with trauma", toh true experiment ban saktaa hai .... Kids with trauma will be randomly assigned to "pet dog" & "no pet dog" ...
