This is exactly what I’m planning for mine. Already tried the thick black pads but it didn’t feel right, gonna try taking the corks off. Only thing is my card drive has been glitching out the machine so gotta figure that out first.

Random Noise for the newer drives you have to upgrade to the latest os for the mpc2000xl that is 1.2. Be sure you have that on there

I have a floppy drive you can use To update the OS if ya need.

Just did this for the 2000 classic. I installed the USB floppy emulator instead of sticking with the floppy drive.

The Main Volume pot of mine causes an imbalanced output (left weaker than right) when turned past ~60% and below ~40%. I would like to fix the Main Volume pot but I fear that this will mess with the sound of the unit. Do you know if it can be replaced without affecting the sound? I'd like to keep that gritty sound. A pristine clean sound would kill the MPC for me which is why I'm unsure about replacing it.

Ross Kelly I have a Zip drive in there now. I have a disk with the os on it but the installation will not complete successfully. I’ll have to figure it out somehow

BBoy Tech Report Well, I can send this Floopy disc drive that came in my 2000xl, I removed it when I installed a scsi card reader in mine. Let me know and I’ll send it your way, I might have the OS on a floppy too

Nah that’s too obvious. I wanted to preserve some of the vintage flavor too
