i totally agree. Had mine since 2021. Watched many tutorials including the Akai ones. They all appear to be purposely misleading, either cant teach or miss out key ingredients. This gentleman is the truth. I have learned how to structure songs. My understanding of beat making has improved since first watching this video about a month ago. I am now making at least three to four beats a day during my spare time lol

I have inputs 3/4 of my sound card set to hear/record any sound that plays through my computer. With my sound card set the way I have it I can sample ANY sound source whether it is from KZbin, Spotify, Apple Music, or even any of my microphones. When It comes to setting your sample from input it will vari depending on your sound card and how you have your audio routed. That can be vastly different from user to user. I have a Scarlet 18i20 interface. routing that will be different than someone using an Apollo Twin, a Presonus Studio 24d, or a M-Audio M-Track Duo. That's why I said your settings meaning your sample from input might/will be different than mine.

Yes. Select your Song or Sequence in the SEQUENCE menu. Select the File menu and choose Export. Select As MIDI Sequence File... or As MIDI Track File.... ... Choose the file name and save location of your MIDI sequence. ... Choose Save to complete the export.

I have a bunch of videos using various plugins already. Honestly I rarely use MIDI Tracks and I don't use Clip Launching at all. I would try out CV functionality but I do not own any type of Modular Synths at this time.

In this tutorial I see you switch to input 3&4... but don't understand why. Aren't the samples coming from the MPC Program?.. please explain to me why u had to switch input...I am very new at this so forgive me if it's a dumb question. Thank u

The sample was not coming from the MPC Program. It was coming from an outside source. I honestly could have dragged the sample into the sample editor and just chopped up the sample but I wanted to show the process of sampling and then chopping the sample versus just showing how to chop a sample. As far as using inputs 3&4 I have inputs 3&4 on my sound card which is currently a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 taking input from all sounds that play through my computer. Therefore if I use inputs 3&4 to sample from I can sample literally any sound that comes through the computer no matter what it is. Your sample input will be different depending on what sound card you use (if any outside of the built in sound card) and how you have the sound routed.

Thanks. The sampling part is easy but tricky at the same time because it will be different from one computer setup to the next. As an example I am using an audio interface with up to 18 inputs and I can literally sample from any one of these inputs. I currently have my sound routed through input 3/4 in my setup but it could easily be 9/10 or any other input available to me with sound routed through it. Someone using the FREE version of the software probably wont have the same audio interface setup as me. Some might not have an audio interface at all so If I say set up the sampler to sample from XYZ then some people may not have that. That is why I said It will be different depending on each person's individual setup. There are many different compters and audio interface combinations that people use and that all could have different sample inputs depending on how their sound is routed.

For anyone having trouble with the sampler and not finding the right input settings, you can also add wav files to MPC beats with the file browser. And I still don't understand how to sample sound directly from a source... Do I need an extra cable? Do I need a soundcard? My MPK only came with USB. At input I only get my microphone. I feel stupid because I just can't wrap my head around it.

You are correct about dragging in samples like wave files or mp3 files. As far as recording live samples as I said in the video it could be different depending on every system you use. If all you have is a MPK and a laptop then your sample input will be limited to whatever input that laptop has which is probably just the built in microphone. At the time I was using a Scarlett 18i20 audio interface which has up to 18 audio inputs and internal routing. I am currently using an Apollo X8 interface. Most people start with something like a Scarlet 2i2 or a 4i4 but I would highly recommend an 18i8 which I feel is the most versatile option for a budget. Sorry for the confusion but it is difficult to explain every possible sampling setup for this purpose because there can be so many different variations between different computer and audio interface combinations and the way someone chooses to route their audio.

Great tutorial. I have a question about creating samples: As I understood it, you played the sound of a program in the video. This sound was captured through your microphone and recoded, so to speak, for the sound of the sample, right? If I run a sample over the speakers via MPC beats and want to record it, nothing happens, why is that? Can you help me?

The sound was not recorded through a microphone. It was recorded through my audio interface. The reason I said your setup and input sources could be different from mine is because there are many different audio interfaces along with many different ways to set it up. In this tutorial I was using a Scarlett 18i8 Gen 3 which has 4 physical inputs. Inputs 1/2 are my microphones and inputs 3/4 were used as sample inputs from whatever source you connect. You just have to set your inputs in the sampler accordingly. There is no way to give a definitive answer unless you have the exact same setup as me.

Thank you firstly. You can change the ASDR of the sample in PROGRAM EDIT or in the sample editor. You can also change the way a pad plays. For example if you set it to ONE SHOT tapping the pad will play the full sample but you can set it to PAD HOLD where the sample only plays as long as you hold the pad. You can also set samples to loop 🔁 or play in reverse. I could have gone really in depth but I wanted this to be informative while staying beginner friendly showing most of the basics of the program.

You have to set your sample from input. If the input is set correctly when you arm the recording it will start as soon as it detects a loud enough signal. (Note: The sample input will be different from device to device depending on your sound card of choice AND the way you have the audio routed. Your sample input settings will probably be different than mine.)

I do have two screens. I purposefully did not show the sample playing on the screen to show that if your settings are right in the software you can sample any sound that plays through the computer and to show how the sampler works. This was indeed a file I already had on my computer and I could have just dragged and dropped it into the sample editor but I wanted to show the actual process of sampling with the software. Sorry for the delay. I totally missed this comment.

Use use the CHANNEL MIXER to mute out that tracks or sound you don't want to play in each sequence. Doing it that way it will do it per sequence and not per the entire song. Hope that helps.

Yes there is but there may be limitations if you are using just a laptop. If you have an audio interface you will have more options. To do that you go to the TOOLS menu then select METRONOME and then you go to OUTPUT and you can select where you want the metronome to go. If your main speakers are on outputs 1/2 then you could send the metronome to output 3 and route your headphones there as an example. (output settings on different audio interfaces and computers vary)

Hey bro thanks so much for the video. I can't seem to get the sequences to copy in song mode by pressing the pad. It's just playing the instrument track. Any ideas?

All tracks that are unmuted should play in each sequence. Before you can get the sequences to work with the pads YOU HAVE TO HIT THE OVERDUB BUTTON otherwise it won’t work. (Not yelling). Make sure you don’t have solo turned on, on the only track that plays. Solo overrides the mutes and that could be the problem. Just for knowing in case you didn’t know. Sequence-Track-Program is the logical order. Sequences can hold one or multiple tracks. Each Track can hold one Program. Programs are the plug-in instruments, Drum programs, Keygroups, Clips, MIDI tracks, or CV and Gate tracks.

Great tutorial. This is probably the best I could find..... I tried and tried but I never could get in the flow. I switched to Ableton. Fruity loops was too much chaos for me. Ableton is great with a launchpad.

@@Pand3man there is no limit to how many you can save. They should be in whatever location you chose on your computer. It will only list a few on the front panel when you first open it. If you want the the rest open an empty project and the use (file - open) to browse to your saved project locations.

Not exactly sure how to answer the question. I’m thinking you are referring to where I got the sample from but if it is “recording the sample” it was recorded into MPC BEATS using the built in Sampler. As far as where it came from as I said in the video it will vary depending on your current setup. If you are a complete beginner you could possibly only be using a laptop or desktop computer with nothing else. In that case you will be reduced solely to the capabilities of the computer. If you have a beginner audio interface like a Scarlett Solo you will have two inputs to sample from which will be inputs 1/2 for stereo or 1 and 2 for mono. In contrast I have a Scarlett 18i20 pair with a Clarett+ Octopre which gives me up to 36 inputs to potentially sample from. Your sample inputs will depend on IF you have an audio interface or not AND how you have it set up or routed. Lastly the way my audio interface is setup inputs 3/4 will be ANY SOUND FROM OR PASSING THROUGH THE COMPUTER. If I was to single something out for example I can sample from input 5/6 which is my turntable or record player and input 1 and 2 are my microphones.
