This still slaps even in 2023! Great video brother. I’m not too involved into beatmaking in general, as I produce other styles of music but I might consider getting one of these boxes to have there just in case I need some inspiration or great sounds to produce with.

If you don't mind the limitations, the Roland JV-1010 is much smaller, and sounds just as good. No more impromptu weightlifting sessions in the studio. You will need to use your laptop if you want to customize the sounds, though.

Man, the JV-1080 is no secret. It was the most recorded module in the whole 90s and is still one of the most successful modules ever produced by Roland. How old are you? Maybe you were not even born in the 90s.... right? Enjoy it, but know it's been around for decades.

Eye love this beat you cooked up! There is a feature called "retrospective record" and when you press shift + record after you have played something without recording, it will put the midi events you just played in your track. It helps so much. Especially if your coming up with things and you forget to record. But you like what your did. It's so helpful!✊🏽🕶️💜

That's dope bro 👌 I was thinking about picking up one of these for awhile, browsing around ebay for a minute. Ended up eventually grabbing up a Roland juno ds. I believe it has a lot of similar sounds but with the keyed and a built in sequencer for when I want to do something a bit different than sitting at the mpc. Beat is nice! Great find 🙌 keep up the good work over here.

If you want an interesting challenge, make a GOOD beat on a Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 or SC-88! I would love to see how that could turn out, since the samples in those units were largely pulled [and clipped] from the JV-1080

I been doing this way before the mpc was even made facts lol I mastered Music instrument Digital interfaces in the 70’s there are so many things with midi other than trigger outboard gear it has a clock to sync up and midi sample dump to send or save samples from certain outboard gear as well 😉😉😎🤓

Can you keep the midi there and go to diff tracks and the midi will still play the sound you chose? Say you compose your beat but you haven’t recorded (committed to anything) and when you’re satisfied go back and record the parts. Idk if that makes sense. But I think you get what I’m tryna say.
@WeFullTime3 жыл бұрын
It might be possible, I haven’t been able to get that method to work correctly. I get exactly what you are saying.
@showbread9366 Жыл бұрын
Yep. Match up the midi channels accordingly assuming it’s a multitimbral module which the jv 1080 is.

Hey brother, great video ! Could you do a in-depth video on how to actually connect everything from the start ? Like I've bought a JV-1080 sound module, and i don't know how to connect it to the MPC and hear the sounds ! I tried the Sampler method, but I'm sure I'm missing some step... It would save a life if you could help on this one !! 😂 Have a great day !

Lol lol 😂 why use VSTs with stand-alone when you can use the mpc software with vsts and then bounce them out to audio tracks to play back in standalone with out midi cables lol that’s why they made the software to go with the stand-alone. MIDI cables are only needed if your using outboard gear that requires midi cables. So no you shouldn’t use midi cables to control vsts if you have a MPC One,X,live, or live 2 it will defeat the purpose smh 🤦🏽♂️ lol lol 😂😂🤣😂🤣
@WeFullTime2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, you can do whatever you want to do. I run my VSTs through a ssl six and a Zulu tape emulator. I like adding a little analog mojo, to me the results are night and day. You can trigger VSTs in Standalone mode via WIFI as well. No midi cables
@producerdata2 жыл бұрын
I got plug-ins that can do anything your outboard gear can do facts it’s about what you know not what you use
@WeFullTime2 жыл бұрын
@@producerdata Glad you know what you know, your plugins are code, they only "emulate" what analog gear does. Thats a fact. Analog circuit topology does what it does via voltage, not code. Two different ballparks.
@producerdata2 жыл бұрын
That was a fact before 64bit now it’s a whole new ball game
@producerdata2 жыл бұрын
These computers 💻 now are 64bit going to 96khz with no problem they are better than the old gear now to the point you can’t tell them a part facts I remember when computers couldn’t keep up or give a warm sound. But I can make a track on the mpc software and it will sound exactly like the stand-alone mpc’s . Same punch 🤜🏾 same swing, same everything. That’s how good computers are now lol the mpc live, x,one and live 2 are all computers 💻 facts
