Cool vid man, i've just picked up an xl myself and noticed that recording the chops one at a time is a lot faster than recording a big chunk of a record and then chopping it inside the MPC. Im going to use my SP to do the chops then record them straight into the xl and assign them to pads to speed things up!

2000XL and SP is a powerful combo and I’m sure you are going to love it. Sadly I just sold mine.

@@t-e-s-a I think if I'd be getting another oldschool MPC I'd try 2500. The only thing is that my good friend has a 1000 and every time he brought it over for a sesh something went bad and he ended up spending more time constantly sorting it out, while my 2000 XL never missed a beat, not once. Anyway, at this very moment sadly MPC is gone from my setup.

Just picked up an sp-404! I was actually thinking of trying this method rather than the resample method! It's how I used to do it on the xl

Real men use resampling. Nah, for real. Nice video. I've been trying to tell myself that I don't need another sp for a few months but this video is making it harder lol
@patfunkk78164 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, when I got my first SP (OG) I was doing only resampling and in fact some of my favourite beats were done this way, I only started sequencing when I got SX because of the copy function, you just can't copy a sequence on the OG and you have to record everything again which is literally almost like doing resampling with the added benefit of being able to do a basic mixing. So many times when I listen to my resampled beats I wish I had the hi hat quieter or kick going a bit harder. I'm always blown away by some beatmakers doing crazy stuff though, and actually this is the reason I got SP in the first place. And yeah I know what you are saying man, I was gassing to get a second SP so bad that I actually traded Ableton Push 2 for it because I was broke as always :D
@Zer0Spinn4 жыл бұрын
@@patfunkk7816 now I understand why people always say that the sx has a better sequencer than the og, no copy pattern? That's crazy. I mainly use the resample method cause I like the workflow and how weird some beats end up but yeah, I know that "that has to be lower" feeling. Especially after sfx 12 lol. When it comes to the two 404s... I saw a 555 for 375€ about a week ago but I couldn't get it cause I'm broke rn. So now... I don't want two 404 anymore. I'm like a child.

Mpc 1000 will make ask you if you want to make a new program when you chop. Thanks for the info. I have been using an mpc for 15 years or so now but looking at the SP simply for the effects
@fredicagoillanoise13094 жыл бұрын
On the 1000 I always move the start/end points to parts of the sample I want to chop and then extract them to new samples so the original sample isn't compromised. I then assign each chop to a pad within a program and put them all under the same mute group. It works great for me.

Excellent video but I only have one question, that is how you have your turntable hooked up to SP 404 and MPC? SO, do you send Turntable Line output to SP 404 Line input, then Sp 404 line output to MPC? OR do you send Turntable line output to MPC , then send MPC output to SP 404 line input? I hope my question was not too confusing.. i just want to know how your cables are routed in your setup. Thanks For the informative video once again
@patfunkk78164 жыл бұрын
Hey brother, turntable is connected straight to the sp404. I have explained my whole set up in my latest video (one cable to rule them all), check it out and it should answer your question. Take care 🙏🏻

looking at cats use the sp404 is interesting, bangers are made but from the metronome to using an external recorder for sequences to etc to etc got to have some serious passion/motivation when you can easily pick up an mpk and ableton or mpc beats so much easier....
@patfunkk78163 жыл бұрын
Well, if you look at some of my recent videos you’ll notice that even I gave up on over complicating my setup and went back to mostly working with ableton and using SP404 for the fx and vinyl sim, and if I work DAW-less I just rock SP with Numark PT01 to sample the records.

@patfunkk78164 жыл бұрын
There isn’t such a thing as track mute on the sp. There are some tricks like using the isolator with all the knobs turned to the left, but this was explained by other people on KZbin already.
@faneva10624 жыл бұрын
@@patfunkk7816 doing it with mfx8 is more effective imo because you can keep the isolator for its usage

How u can sent effect from 404 on mpc and save it cause it doesn't has resample,or you must mix your sample with fx and later put it on mpc,mpc has limited effect cost 150-300 and it havent resample,suck
@patfunkk78164 жыл бұрын
First - you can get FX expansion card for the MPC, it does not come as a standard though and it cost a bit to get one. And to ask your question - you can't really send an FX to the MPC from SP, but you can of course follow the method I am demonstrating in this video - sample on the SP, put FX on the sample and then send that sample to the MPC, or just have the SP between the turntable and MPC in the chain and put the desired FX while you sampling straight to the MPC.
