Great content as usual. I get hung up sometimes about not having a normal 4/5 min 'song' arrangement. Need to remember under 2 mins is ok for a beat :-) Resampling is great. Can be good sometimes to bounce the whole track down, then take a bar, cut up the audio and create fills, reverse some sections, go crazy, and then use them for transitions in the un-bounced track.

I needed this man! I made a little over 80 beats the last half of 2020 and have 3 finished bc I get so caught up on that 8 bar loop and cant get out of it without it sounding like it doesnt fit

I know the feeling. I used to have that feeling back in the late 90s - early 2000s using my MPC2000. I haven't made beats in over 10 years. But I'm getting back into it. Especially since I have bought quite a few synths in the last 6 months. Get yourself a nice synth to add to your samples. I personally recommend getting a Behringer synth since they are remaking alot of the old synths that are very hard to afford. Take my word, I own 5 now. A nice synth on top of a nice sample makes a big difference. Thank you for this video. I'm thinking of getting me an MPC Touch to travel with before I get the MPC X. 👍👍👍👍👍

For song mode and standalone, bouncing your loop to a sample and putting it on multiple pads with pad effects and triggering them in a longer bar sequence is the easiest and best way I could find. One 4 bar loop bounced and thrown into 4 pads. 3 pads having effects on them, you just turned it into a 16 bar loop now. Having multiple programs will work too but will cause problems if you use explode since 3 of the same programs with 8 samples will end up being 24 tracks. Recording automation works for one sequence but causes problems on the next sequence. Can't record effect on/offs. I believe you can record xy effects only if you have them mapped to your Q Links and record automation. Bouncing down to audio clips cuts everything short at the end, so no tail is possible into the next sequence. In short: your best bet is to record the mpc externally and forget song mode exists.

True dont need a more involved arrangement yet I’ve often wondered how awesome that would be if beats / hip hop genre type stuff had exactly that- say a section with no vocals to let depth of musicality or “instrumental” shine, for like seven minutes or something.
