This is a quick demonstration of an automated change that switches between two routers, each with a different cutting bit.
See my earlier video to get more detail on how the system works: • MPCNC Automatic Tool C...
Currently I am turning the routers on and off manually, but I have some limited experiments with switching them automatically with a solid state relay.
Right now the cable management is poor, and I need to supervise the machine to make sure the cables don't get caught.

The changing mechanism is pretty tight, I can't feel any play and I measured the Z axis here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmSml5VujdqHf7s

In your previous video, Timmy Girard suggested using more than one router rather than attempt the normal (complicated) cutter change. I didn't expect ever to see it in the flesh because of the cost of a second router, but you've done it, and it works great! There's more than one way to skin a cat, as the saying goes! Thanks. :o)

In the scheme of things, the cost of the second router is not bad at all, especially considering that it offers what I think is a huge increment in capability. Now I no longer dread the switch between roughing pass and finishing pass.

@@jamiekawabata7101 : No... it makes a lot of sense. I was not sure whether you were doing this to satisfy your curiosity, in which case the second router would be an unnecessary expense. If you have a use for it, the cost is insignificant. It really opens up possibilities. Thanks again.
