Now that's how you do a time lapse! But even then it shows really nice overview of the build without it being 4 parts and waffling cant wait to get mine going now! Printing parts at the mo then ordering bolts and the tubing on payday. I like how you did the base so it can be slid out and scrapped once its beyond rescuing :D

Thanks! I still have to tidy up the wiring and do some more permanent soldering and heat shrink on the main power connection as well as install the drag chains but other than that it's pretty much done. I've been testing on rigid foam sheet material so far with great results. I did 900mm x 600mm and even though I prepared the longer rails for supports I haven't noticed any flex yet. I like the way you recessed your spoil board as well. I'm going to do that since I plan on milling a few things and would like that extra space.

Nice! I don't have that much room so went for 600 x 600, about 350 x 350 useable on mine. Being smaller also meant I could use stainless tubing without breaking the bank. I really recon you meed supports especially with that heavy router! There are some great cablechains on thingiverse. Looking forward to seeing what you cut with yours!

Yes, mid supports will be needed to get the higher detail in Z axis. For now I just cut all the way trough so don't need that precision. Measured the flex to about 1 mm.

Ryan - V1 Engineering Inc should definitely be open source where people can modify it and put the files up. Your design is great. Amazing at that. But you’re giving the print files out for free anyways. Why wouldn’t you allow people to modify them

I baught a kit from V1 engineering. I think is is a rambo 1.4 board. Dont remember. There is also a new version of the mpcnc wich is way better than this. Same electronics but bigger belts an pulley system.

Hello Mike. Havnet measured the accuracy on it. I mostly do signs and sculpting so the tolerances are not important for me.

Thx. The working area is X and Y 1000x1000 mm and Z 50mm. I haven't fully tested it yet but some small testing I have done indicates a really small flex in the Z-axis about 1mm. So I'm planning on printout some extra support legs for the X and Y pipes to counter the Z flexing. Yes, I did order a full Kit from V1 except for printed parts.

@@robkowalski6567 Many are talking about the corners that they are weak but I haven't noticed any problems with the new original design. I did print some belt tensioners to use instead of the zip ties used. www.thingiverse.com/thing:1833934 And if you are going BIG as I did this is the extra legs that I plan to mount on X and Y www.thingiverse.com/thing:1160962 The spindle depends on what material you are going to machine. 500w sound good. I bought a 700w Makita.

@@makerlindh5372 About to build one and was going for work area of about 36" or 900mm roughly. Did you end up having any issues with the size you made? Just plan on cutting mainly wood and very rare aluminum. Did you end up finding or using mid-span legs? Good info and video.

I built my machine using the Dewalt. The largest bit is a 1/4". What's your Makita use? 1/8th and 1/4" also or can you go with a bigger diameter bit? Second question, what did you use to create your light behind the 5 sign?

Hello Mike At the moment I only use the standard 1/8th bit I think it is. It is possible to buy another chuck to it so I can go 1/4 as maximum. But the raidous of the bit can be smaller than the milling side of the bit. I have used a 1/8 bit with a milling diameter of 1" but then I need to go alot slower. The machine can skip steps if going to fast and big. And about the light I milled a smaller 5 in thicker material and glued it behind. Then just a ledstrip around the smaller number, haven't finished that project yet, I want it to be solar powered.

I'm wondering if you could answer a question. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I went with the 24x24 build and standard Z-axis, however, I just finished the build and the long thread rod sticks way down to the point where it only gives me 3/4" of travel, do I need to cut the threaded rod? Right now the calculator put it at 10.75 lengths for the conduit which should be 3.25 travel distance. I do not see in the instructions to cut the threaded rod.

Hello Steven and welcome to the MPCNC family. So on the page where you get all the calculations, you can find the Leadscrew minimum length in the 5raw to the right :) Just creat it maybe 1" extra long to have some spare if needed jscalc.io/calc/QHWZUpKFJzyGVS2D

I don't remember how much plastic I used up but it was PLA atleast.

Haven't done any big cuts like that yet. Longest is 4 h and that was without any problem. The router wasn't hot at all. But maybe that depends on how fast and deep you cut.

@@patswayze2493 yes a few issues but nothing that wasn't possible to fix. There was a litte bit of flex but this was solved with extra support legs. And for what I was cutting it was never a problem. But today my working area is 600*600*75 this is still bigger then my projects I normally do. And it takes way less space in my shop 👌
