That's weird I experienced the exact opposite effect using these two substrates. The fluval stratum seems much less cloudy in my experience.

If you read the directions I believe it says to rinse the soil first.

What is in Mr Aqua Soil? All I find online is "specific proprietary blend of organic and inert ingredients" - is Mr Aqua Volcanic Ash or Organic Humus, or ....?

Why does it matter if the substrate makes the water murky when you first add it?

@@sulena8823 Hi, im far from being a pro, but if your water is murky like mine was when i first set up my tank.( what worked for me ) i did a bigger water change ( not a complete one) and ran the filter for a while, anyways where i got my fish they told me to wait almost a month before putting them in my tank so that the water is safe for them or something. the subtract eventually goes down dw!

@@5h5h6hgh6h7h I got the Fluval and it made my water so brown that I can’t see through it all all..I did rinse because the bag said to I used a plate and it’s really bad any suggestions? I can’t get a filter hooked up till tomorrow waiting on my air pump to come in but I am gonna be doing this to all my tanks so I am open for any tips on how to do this without making the tanks terrible

@@hirth8195 Now get it into the tank, and try not to burst the dirt balls. The dirt will clear after about a night.

Wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't dump the water straight onto the soil. Should of poured it on hardscape or a plate

If you use a plate it won’t be that dirty,also mr aqua soli does contain much soil.

After he poured the soils in. The Fluval tank was already dusty from the product being put in.

Volcanic soil is better, the dust particles are not hurting the plants when it is volcanic. To use this stuff you have to rinse it out like it says on the package. I rinsed mine out.

Will it hurt the fish if I put them in like that? I have the same volcanic soil and I rinsed it only after I realized I had to do so before adding water, so then I dumped everything out and back in twice

After I filled it up with water again it still was dark not sure how long it’ll take until this residue clears out

If you used them properly (washed the fluval softly and poured the water in as to not disturb the partials) it would have been different

To be fair you need to rinse fluval before you just pour it into the tank and add water…. So really this isn’t a fair comparison. It’s says that on the back of the bag in the directions…

I rinsed mines and it was cloudy. Secondly, I’m a noob but I did not pour the water like that but it end up being a mess so I did it wrong. I would recommend both products if done correctly. I need help to get ride of the Cloudy water please 😂

good filtration will clean that up in a hour, in both tanks. horrible demonstration for pouring water, try doing an air line siphon and fast forwarding the video x4. I prefer stratum.
