Jeez, Mr Bean is incorrect to call Israel an "theocracy". Has he been to Israel? I have. Many jews aren't even religious. Being a jew is an ethnicity and a religion. Before universalizing religions like Christianity or Islam, religions belong to a people & culture. There are religious Jews and non religious Jews, but regardless being Jewish is also an ethnicity. When you DNA tests on Middle eastern, European, or Indian jews you see a common ancestry to the middle east

Destiny said, “Why don’t the civilians of Palestine rise against Hamas?” How insane is that to say in this situation? That’s the same as saying, “Americans didn’t overthrow their government during the Iraq war, so they all deserve to be blown up.” That’s how it sounds; it’s a ridiculous statement to make. Also, most people in Gaza were babies or not born when Hamas was elected in 2006. Destiny has just enough knowledge on the subject to get more innocent Palestinians killed.

@Immor7alBG
@Immor7alBG 11 ай бұрын
There's also a staunch difference in radicalism between a stable country vs an unstable one, especially if the stable country is a world power on top of that. It's really easy to take a moderate stance when your home isn't under constant threat and to appeal to morality, but if your position in the world is shaky at best, all of that flies out the window. That's probably the biggest issue with a 2 state solution, neither side will ever feel secure enough with the amount of friction that exists between them.

@@ennieminee4470 this is what Destiny is allowing to fester in his community at this point. Yes, Israel has faced their own form of a genocide in the past at the hands of Germany and past that they had the Arab Israeli war. During that first war 6,000 Israelis were killed. Then the 6 day war left 800 Israelis dead. Then the yom kippaur surprise attack that killed 2,000. You have the intifadas which was Palestinians going in and suicide bombing Israeli civilians. But the casualties Palestinians have suffered are in the 10s of thousands not including this most recent war which is at 7,000 with 3,000 of those being children. Israeli nationalism needs to be put in check because Palestinians have suffered extensively at their hands. There has never been an offer from Israel to Palestine solidifying a proper Palestinian state and all the offers from Palestinians that address this have been denied. When on one side you have suicide bombings, stabbings, kidnappings and on the other side you have the 4th most powerful military in the world, with an iron dome and nuclear capabilities. You kinda have to put things into context. They also have the major backing from the US that funds them.

History can give context on the motivation of some actors, but doesn't justify current or future actions. I admit I, as American, am biased, but I think a concept like statute of limitations applies to the Israel conflict. Perhaps Palestine was historically displaced, but that is how every country in the history of humanity was formed. This “it didn’t happen in a vacuum “ sentiment is not helping the conversation how people think. Yeah october 7th didn’t happen in a vacuum but this just derails what’s really important in current events. That both people are suffering in all directions of the conflict.people think this sentiment somehow justifies or explains away the atrocities because we’ve become so wound up in the dichotomy of oppressor and oppressed that we’ve kind of lost track of the discourse in such a way that we are constantly to label one side as the victim and that the victim is always righteous so we must support them to maintain our moral fiber. But if we want to play that game we can and it won’t turn out the way you think. There is a non-vacuum chain that extends way beyond this conflict even began. Okay so let’s play. The Nakba didn’t happen in a vacuum. It was a result of a decades long civil war by the Arabs of Palestine against the returning Jewish population to the land in which they carried out acts of terror against new Jewish immigrants as well as 5-7+ generation Jews in the region by village massacres and bus explosions (yes even in the 30s and before). That violence also didn’t happen in a vacuum. It was the result of a colonial (or decolonial ) movement by the new Zionists of Eastern Europe. While buying land isn’t inherently immoral, buying huge chunks of land and then evicting the poorer Arabs that lived in those lands for god knows how many generations was also immoral and a threat to the Arabs and the newly forming Palestinian national identity. The Zionist movement also didn’t happen in a vacuum. It was the result of more than two millennia of persecution, xenophobia and regularly occurring massacres/pogroms of Jewish people. That didn’t happen in a vacuum either, when Jews were among the only people able to lend with interest, this minority group prospered disproportionately to other Europeans which sowed envy, hatred and blame in an increasingly struggling continent. The Jewish minority diaspora did not exist in a vacuum either, not in Europe not Africa, the Americas nor the rest of the world. They were driven out by multiple empires throughout the centuries from what became known as Palestine post-Roman rule in the region. Pre Roman rule, the land was known as Judea, Samaria and Israel. But no expulsion of the Jews was as great as that which occurred during the Arabian empire which violently conquered Palestine, massacring Jews and forcibly evicting them causing and explosion in the growth of the diaspora. These are the ancestors of Palestinians today. The colonizers. Who today also share Jewish ancestry due to the admixture which often happens with long-term colonialism. While I don’t agree with this, a big sentiment from the far left who justify october 7th and insisting it didn’t happen in a vacuum often agree that decolonization is violent by necessity. The Zionists who grew the most desperate and grew in popularity after the holocaust thought the exact. Same. Thing. So let’s focus on today. A two state solution which outright condemns terror and maintains dual-recognition of both states’ indigenous right to govern themselves in their homeland.

Israel is in the right when it comes to the conflict with the Arab world. I'm sick of seeing Israel held to a standard Arabs never hold themselves to. Just like when they come here and hold Westerners to a standard they would never hold their own people to.

10:07 i hate the "it didn't happen in a vacuum" or "you need to understand where it came from". firstly, that doesn't justify atrocities. i can go to the extreme example and say that the actual malice towards germany by european countries after WW1 did not justify WW2, right? i can also go for the 9/11 example. i'm sure many people, esspecially those using such rhetoric, will say that USA after 9/11 comitted several atrocities that they are opposed to, right? which is an example of how the 9/11 attack did not justify in their eyes the USA response. and even in this conflict, people say "palestinians didn't start terrorism in a vacuum", israel didn't start it's actions against palestinians in a vacuum either! and we can go back and see how each and every year this conflict didn't start in a vacuum either and had years of history to it before of how both sides didn't just pop out of the aether. secondly, it's a racist idea to think that an entire culture of people experienced a trauma and just couldn't control themselves so their response was horrible acts of terror, even to the point of the horrors in 7/10. i'm sure that if i would ask mr. beat he would say that he and his relatives and probably all the people he knows would be able to control themselves enough to not mass rape and butcher civillians and torture kids and elderly before killing them and etc. again if we go to 9/11, i'm sure mr. beat would say he will never see himself getting to a point in which he would commit suicide by crashing a plane into a building, and i'm sure he would say it is wrong to act as such. and moreover, that he would expect other americans or westerners to resist from such actions. but by stating that it had a reason to why it happened in order to downplay the guilty-ness of the accused, he falls into a racist mindset. you take the ability of that peraon to be able and decide his actions, to control his actions, which you deem so obvious to control. so why he uses it only towards one side? because, probably without understanding it, he believes one side is incapable of controling themsekles. which side? the arab one, thats racist. just like every human, they are accountable for their own actions. thirdly, it's again the one sided-ness of this talking point while it exist for both sides. it should be obvious that non of the sides just decided to wake up one day and choose war out of nowhere. thinking one side is justified because history exists isn't reaching to a conclusion, it's searching for a justification for pre-concieved opinion. which isn't neccessirily bad, everyone has a bias. but this type of claim that "well, i'm not supportive of the response but there is a history to it that kinda, not really, but kinda, but not really, but kinda justifies it", is teying to mask that bias woth an "objectivity". it is not objective, the fact that you think history exists only for one side in a conflict older than you is the proof of a bias you just seems to be unable / unwilling to ignore. tl;dr, that reasoning of "it didn't happen in a vaccum", is both wrong (still doesn't justifies anything), racist (oh, you expect one side to control themselves yet from the other one not?), and a proof of a bias you didn't overcome (both sides did not pop into existence in 7/10 nor in 1948). honestly, expected mr. beat to do better than that. that is beneath his capabilities that he showed in his channel.

I personally think one state solution is impossible. Jews and Israeli Arabs can live together but not Palestinians in Gaza or west bank who are with different circumstances and hate Israel and many times Jews in general. Not to mention as a liberal getting the country with more far right (and we have enough of it already and most of the Palestinians there qualify if it's reactionary or more extreme like Hamas...) not liking the idea. This country won't be democratic for long and will collapse. Gradual move to 2 states solution seems to me like the only option with improving Palestinian conditions, empowering PA (and pressuring them to recognise Israel) and dealing with settlers and far right Israelis (instead of the far right borderline treacherous strategy of empowering Hamas to avoid negotiations). That state under PA and it most likely will be a reactionary authoritarian under Fatah.

It is good to be critical of U.S. foreign policy. It is good to be critical of Israel. BUT one should also put it in perspective with what is going on worldwide, which is a tough ask sometimes. Every time the U.S. or any other democratic country messes up it goes front page. But when dictatorial countries (or groups) commit violations of human rights, they like to lock out the press, which they can do because there is no freedom of press. China and their treatment of the Uighurs comes to mind. Or the situation in Yemen. Even with the situation in Gaza one should keep in mind that Hamas gets to decide what kind of footage gets out and which areas the press has access to.

36:25 known I’m gonna get pinioned for this, but isn’t this whole thing kind of a tragic chicken egg cycle that began when the English relocated 100,000 Jews to the area in…1946? The Palestinians reacted badly to what they saw as their land being given away (yes, yes I know the British won it fair and square from the Ottoman Empire), then the cycles of violence led to the partition plan, which the Palestinians rejected because in their eyes it’s all their land, then they declared war on the new Israeli state, and lost even more land in the conflict. Then they were madder, then they fought, then Israel got more territory, then chicken egg chicken egg. So it’s hard to be unequivocally for only one side. It’s definitely a cycle of violence. (Which Does Not justify the murder and kidnapping of civilians on 10/7)

1:03:49 I hate this response when I hear it because it's such a non-answer. The immediate follow-up is clearly: what if the community is split 50/50? What if 90% want to keep some problematic statue up, but the 10% who don't are so fervent in their opinion that they seek help outside the local community, such as soliciting donations from around the world and getting sympathetic news stories broadcast by national media outlets? Then this "local" issue becomes a touchstone in an international debate which could easily lead the local government or institution to make a call against the will of the majority just to alleviate the massive pressure or avoid the stigma of being braded x-phobic or x-ist. Not to say that any of this is wrong or unjustified, just that it means "it should be left up to the local community" is a dodge. Just take a stance, bro. Because odds are that once such a local story becomes a wider conversation, you'll end up taking one anyway.

An important point about Palestinians today and Hamas is only 7% of Palestinians today voted for Hamas in 2006. A lot of the reason for that is because 50% of Gazans are children and weren’t even alive or were only a few years old in 2006. Also if we are going to disregard the history in this situation (as Destiny suggested), this point is even more important…. Only 7% of today’s Palestinians voted for Hamas in 2006 and they are separate entities….

We know from recent polling that the majority of folks in Gaza support Hamas. Keep in mind that “protecting minors under 18” is a western ideal, whereas in the MENA region it’s standard practice for militant acts to be carried out by teens. Iran even sent little boys into battle against Iraq (google it, but you’ll be disturbed) There is no easy solution to deal with the folks in Gaza, & even their Muslim neighbors won’t help or accept refugees because they’ve caused harm wherever they’ve gone. The population is majority underage, radicalized & poor. They’ve wasted BILLIONS of dollars in aid to dig tunnels & buy missiles, rather than create industry or infrastructure. They’re still dependent on Israel for water & electricity
