They got pretty big, but only briefly because grunge sort of shoved this kind of music into the background. For around a year in the early 90's Mr. Big were constantly being played on MTV, and the radio. Then Nirvana happened. Nirvana destroyed a lot of careers. Personally, I think Kurt Cobain was a pretentious douchbag who whined about his success. Rock and roll originally was about having fun and the music reflected that. Think Van Halen. Fun party music. Grunge killed that. Eric definitely was a superior vocalist. He makes Cobain sound like a cat being drowned in a sack.
