This is by far the best dueling excel video I've seen between Bill & Mike. It's a pure classic and ever fresh (though it was done in 2013). So much to learn in this video. Enjoyed so much! Please continue doing dueling excel videos. It seems in 2018 there have been very few dueling excel videos. Please continue making more videos. Why has the duel excel podcasts stopped? Thanks

Great idea! If you download the workbook on one of the last sheets I added a PivotTable example with a Helper Column to filter the PivoTable based on a formula input (you do have to use Refresh, though).

I didn't understand how you did the pivot and made the filter to automatically pick the weeks starting from Monday. Could you explain this to me please, thanks.

WEEKDAY is just a function that looks at the date and spits out a number, 1 to 7, 0 to 6, etc. It was invented for situations just like this where you need to always go back to a Monday or Tuesday... Just put some dates in some cells and try the WEEKDAY a few times. You will get it!!

I NEED HELP! PLZZ im trying to do something similar but more specific i guess. im a server and ive been working on an excel file to track my tips and sales percentages tip outs etc, it's very complex and im completely new to excel so it took me like two months. i'm trying to recreate an app that i was using but doesn't track enough details. in this app there are tabs on top for sorting the data yearly, monthly, weekly and biweekly and "all" and then at the bottom you can toggle between all of the data with arrows, between the 2 arrows there are 2 dates based off of the filter (the corresponding dates of the month, the week etc) but youre not limited to just "this month" and "last month", but you can continue to toggle between all months by clicking the arrow. i've tried with slicers and it kind of works but not as efficient or specific as i'd like it to be PLEASE TELL ME if you think that is at all possible on excel

Can I use these methods on sales data that comes as "Week Ending" instead of "Week of"? Trying to calculate total unit sales per month without capturing data from surrounding months.

What would the formula look like if I wanted a running total by week in Column C of this spread sheet? C2=77, C3=143, etc.. to where at the beginning of the next week would restart the running total (C9=93) and C8 would have the total of B2:B8. I have a spreadsheet that someone else made in 1997, but I am trying to recreate the spreadsheet with my own formulas and some more data.

Got a GREAT question . I’m tracking years, broken down into quarters, into months broken down into weeks. How do I track (let’s say on a weekly basis) towards the end of the month? For example, a week may go from say ...Jan 29th - Feb 4th. How can I break that week up in excel so that I can track only the days up to the 31st to record into January and not count days in February. Please help

Hi, I just found this video, similar to what I am looking for. I would like to see Week 1 start date the same as the date on Start month, which could be any day (Monday - Sunday). But the week ending still Sunday. And the total for all the weeks should agree to total for the month. How do I do that? In your example above, total all of the weeks does not agree total of the month as you have 4 days of February included in the total.

why not just use a pivot table? Group by days with 7 days in a group
