Thanks for checking out a video about Iaşi! Although I really enjoy their vlogs and videos about Romania, they didn’t do Iaşi justice sadly…the city is filled with important and historic sites since the city is very, very important. It was the capital of Moldavia from 1564 to 1859 and Romania’s capital from 1916 to 1918. The first university in Romania was founded here in 1860 as well as the first Romanian scientific committee in 1833. The university’s “Gheorghe Asachi Library” was ranked as the most beautiful library to ever exist some years back. In 1863, the literary society “Junimea” was founded by some of the most prominent Romanian critics, academics and writers, being the most influential Romanian intellectual association. Many of our most prominent writers and great minds walked through the city’s streets, studied here and rose to fame here. It is best known for being the place where Mihai Eminescu spent much of his time (Note that he wasn’t born here, he was born in the city of Botoșani, which is a two hour drive from Iaşi). “Teiul lui Eminescu” (Eminescu’s linden) in Copou Park is the place where he wrote a lot of his famous poems and relaxed alongside his beloved friend Ion Creangă. As you saw in the video, since the city is known as the Cultural Capital of Romania, a lot of festivals take place here, art expositions, musical plays, theater culture is major in the city and many others. Many prestigious schools are also present in the city. Since the city is an education hub, the city has a very youthful feel, a lot of young people everywhere, cafe’s and a great nightlife! The atmosphere is amazing here! It’s a very important religious center too, a lot of religious sites and important churches and monasteries are found in Iaşi. Every year on October 14, a huge pilgrimage for Saint Paraskeva takes place at the Metropolitan Cathedral, the largest historical Orthodox church in Romania, opened in 1887. Somewhere around 300 000 pilgrims from all over comes to the city around this time. I know Iași a lot since I live very close to it and study here also and hopefully you’ll check more about it in the future Mr. Giant! 😊

" they didn’t do Iaşi justice sadly" , Mai banana!

Nice video, Iasi is one of the cities I am yet to visit, being pretty far from me (around 650km/400miles).. but it's on the list :)

Iasi is actually least visited in Romania and less developed! I recommend Craiova! 💙♡

Just a start question: why do you imagine the name of this city would start with a lowercase letter? Simple question.
