ABOUT KIM'S CONVENIENCE:
"Kim's Convenience" depicts a Korean Canadian Kim family that runs a convenience store in the Moss Park neighbourhood of Toronto: parents "Appa" (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and "Umma" (Jean Yoon) - Korean for dad and mom, respectively - along with their daughter Janet (Andrea Bang) and estranged son Jung (Simu Liu). Other characters include Jung's friend and coworker Kimchee (Andrew Phung) and his manager Shannon (Nicole Power). The series is based on Ins Choi's 2011 play of the same name. Mr. and Mrs. Kim have worked hard to give their now-twenty-something children, Janet and Jung, a better life in Canada. This comedy finds laughter in the trials of running a literal 'Mom and Pop' shop while raising kids in a culture not quite your own.

I used to work in a store that was on a street that had events every month. Craft fairs, parades, marathons, and you think it would be good for business. It wasn’t. People completely blocked the sidewalk with loud music, set up camp in front of the door, there were paper cups all over the store front, trash on the ground, people leaning against the window, and there were almost no sales that day. I now understand why the store next door just closed until the event was over.

I have to say...I am very thankful for the "best Canadian shows" lists, I would never have found this great series without them! This is one of the best "sitcoms" that I have seen in years! I've been binge watching on the weekends for 2 weeks...and think this show deserved far more than only 5 seasons!
