Looking up "a kitzel" brought me here, and the thanks I get is Jack Benny, Mel Blanc, Artie Auerback, and the future Mrs. Lillian Munster. Best five minutes I ever wasted on the internet.

I remember this episode from the night it aired. It has remained in my happy memory all these years, and now you made my day.

This memory is so personal to me but my dad used to say very infrequently “hoo ooooh Mr Kitsool!” (at least that’s what I heard) when I was a kid. This is many many many years after Jack Benny, in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid. I never knew what it was for or where he got it from or why he did it ( he did it when he was happy or excited) and I never asked him or if I did he didn’t tell me and then I finally put it together. My dad is gone now (early pandemic), and it sticks with me every day missing him so much, but it’s something from his childhood and now I’m going to keep it going and no one’s gonna know what I’m talking about. Lol! If your dad is still around, just tell them you love them, even if you don’t get along, write them a letter or just send them a message, because when they’re gone it just hurts so much. So for my dad, give a loud “hoo ooooo Mr Kitzel!!!!!!!!

@@adf3comcast1 Thanks. I almost didn’t talk about that memory because it’s very personal but if you can bring anybody closer to their dad or make someone smile or even have someone just randomly say that phrase my dad would get a kick out of it and so would I.

I love Mr. Kitzel on the Jack Benny Program, on Antenna TV. He died in October of that year.

I have a an early memory of my grandad singing a song very much like this one, or maybe it was from his time in the Air Force? Anyway, if anybody has some info on this I’d greatly appreciate it: “All ready ready and it’s all red hot, Pickle in the middle and mustard on top, we got ham ram bear bull billygoat!” And of course we’d all burst out in laughter. This song isn’t the same but it shares some glaring similarities. Hopefully someone can shed some light on its source

To Mr. DiFlorio, could you post an episode from “The Steve Allen Show” that was aired on January 11th, 1960? I’m pretty sure that you have a copy of it, and since it’s all but vanished on the internet (with the exception of a few clips) I would appreciate it if you could either post a full episode of that show or just e-mail me a link of the show for my personal viewing, thanks!
