I always loved this movie. One of Bronson's best flicks. Classic Elmore Leonard story too. Good guy is severely underestimated ,backed into a corner and forced to fight back against the bad guys( who are always really bad and menacing) using theirs skills and brains which they never see coming. Never get tired of how Charlie turns the tables on the baddies in this one. Last line in the movie is the best one "hey lieutenant you were right. He was really trying to kill me!"

I honestly think the last two decades that produced honest to God stars were the 1960's and 70's . Michael Caine, Jack Nicholson, Charles Bronson, Alain Delon, who is around today to fill their shoes today ? I can't think of any. Sure, there are talents working today such as Adam Driver and Tom Hardy but they don't light up the screen like those men did.
@MichaelGriffey69694 жыл бұрын
@@ricardocantoral7672 Anthony Hopkins still graces us with a wonderful performance from time to time but I know that will probably be coming to an end soon too. Al Pacino is still alive and acting his ass off. Clint Eastwood...but I think he might be done too and they're all in the twilight of their careers. Once they're gone, then we really will have no one truly great to entertain us. :/

Yes for sure, that’s why men our age were men, we didn’t worry if we were women, and need meds for everything. Movies and music has allot to do with how young boys become men... because of movies like this I served in the Army, trained to be a bad ass like Charles. I was a police officer to... I had a guy point a gun at me once, I told him “anything I got ain’t worth you dying over” he looked around and demanded I give him my gun. He woke up later looking at the sky. Was I scared, you dam straight!!!! But we are men... today’s men wanna wear big beads look tough with Tattoos all over... cops are the same, the young with tattoos all over, act tough but when the gun gets pulled on them or they feel unsafe, they don’t know what to do. That’s why you see so many shooting with cops now... when the criminals see them they know their scared, they see it in their eyes... I never had to ask a criminal twice, they knew I wasn’t gonna fuck around...

@Greg Barbera No, sorry, but he was born in Ehrenfeld, Pa which is sort of between Portage and Johnstown PA, not in Ohio. He worked in the bituminous (soft) coal mines in that area. This movie was made just before Bronson made it big the U.S. Sean Connery and Bronson were the two most popular male movie stars in the world in 1971 despite the fact that most American movie fans had forgotten that Bronson ever existed or thought he was just doing small movies somewhere. In the 1960s and early 70's Bronson was a superstar in Asia and Europe and if it hadn't been for Death Wish which he made in his 50's he would more than likely be remembered for the handful of roles he played in some big U.S. movies and never become the huge star in America that he belatedly came. Charlie Bronson...the toughest of them all!

Charles Bronson legit tough guy indeed Sean Connery is ok but not a legit tough guy Rod Taylor was a legit tough guy Aussie amateur champion in Australia great actor very underated Got into a real fight with William Smith another legit tough guy in the movie Darker than Amber the fight scene was real And Rod Taylor also couldn't get along with NFL Jim Brown in the movie Dark of the sun good movie So it was said that at Playboy mansion party both guys got into a fight and Rod Taylor beat up Jim Brown And William Smith knocked out Chuck Connors in some cowboy show in the 60s And destroyed Arnold's Schwarzenegger arrogant ego in the movie Conan Arnold challenged him to a arm wrestling match and lost Lol

love this movie. one of bronson's best and he made some good ones. why is it the best movies are the old ones? now days a movie has to have tons of swearing to get the attention of the young. i miss the old days.

A lot of these old time actors came up the real hard way during the Depression. Their authenticity didn't come from acting classes; they lived it. Watch Bronson in "Hard Times". He really looked like a guy who had to make a living the hard way. Read through the bios of the old actors and some of them had interesting lives before the got into acting; their early lives would've made interesting movies all by themselves. George Brent was a wanted man in Northern Ireland for IRA activities. Walter Brennan served 2 years in France in WWI, made a fortune in real estate and lost it all BEFORE becoming an actor. Victor McLaglen was a circus boxer who offered $25 to anyone who could go 3 rounds with him. He fought and lost to Jack Johnson. In WWI, he served in the British Army and was heavyweight champ of the army.
