Lyrics:
Kýrie, eléison
Kýrie, eléison
Kýrie
The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
My heart is old, it holds my memories
My body burns a gem-like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again

If I had a choice to go back to the 8Os forever and stay there, I would take it in a heartbeat. It was by far the best decade of my life. At the time we thought it would last forever or even get better, but unfortunately we were wrong. It's now 2O24 and it's nowhere near as good as it was back in the 8Os. People actually spoke with each other. Nowadays everyone has their heads down in their phones missing out on the little things in life. Who else would love to permanently go back to the 8Os with me ?..Such better times back then and so many great, happy memories.

@@melanier3479 I always knew what Kyrie Eleison meant but missed knowing that that was what the song said, until 2019 when I found a video of it on KZbin that actually had the words. Gives me chills a bit too. Knowing that. Changes the whole song, is certainly true. Heard this song when I was young in the '80's, already loved the song and the tune then but could not make out most of the words. Now I think of it as one of the "Kyrie" pieces of music although it is not an actual church song. Beautiful words, beautiful tune, beautiful song, beautiful singing, beautiful video. Glad to hear that you feel the same way. Just thought I'd let you know. ☺️

One of the greatest songs of the 80’s ! For us Aussies of Greek background, this song celebrated our language on a world stage. Kyrie eleison is Greek for ‘Lord have mercy’ ! More importantly however the message of the song has given hope to many who struggled through dark times. Never get tired hearing this song ! Such an exciting decade to grow up in !!

"Kyrie Eleison" is Greek for "Lord, have mercy." It is used as a prayer in both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox services. Greek was the original language of the New Testament, which was later translated to Latin. This song is credited to lead singer Richard Page, keyboardist Steve George and lyricist John Lang.
@woodshed_moments
@woodshed_moments Жыл бұрын
The roots of "Kyrie Eleison" you say are not entirely accurate, not to be confused with anything Catholic or even its coptic tributaries, because they didn't happen until after the 3rd century AD, where is it is true it was a common expression amongst the churches in Asia Minor [that of course would include Greece and Turkey] it has a sad history rooted in the martyrdom of those early Church saints.

This song came up in my recommended this evening. Lord knows I must’ve really needed to hear it for healing. I did a clean out of a very close and dear relative’s home today and it was one of the saddest things ever to touch her clothes and sort through the memories. On top of that she passed away in a very tragic way without warning. I’ve been so heartbroken. I ask for God’s mercy.

As a boy growing up in the 80s, I was taught that ALL rock/pop music came from the devil. But knowing Kyrie Eleison meant “Lord have mercy” from my Catholic upbringing, and hearing this song all over the radio, I KNEW what I was taught wasn’t right. This song was the turning point for me to discover an AMAZING world in rock and popular music that simply celebrated the glory and joy of positive energy and goodness. This song lives in my soul forever because of its pivotal influence in my life and my career. I will NEVER tire of hearing “Kyrie Eleison down the road that I MUST travel!!!” 👊🎸💯🙏✝️

And the only difference is that we KNOW and can PROVE that Mr Mister, exist, whereas god and baby jebus, we absolutely CAN'T. Also Mr Mister make awesome tunes like this one Fantasy, immoral, imaginary, inhuman, hateful, mafia boss, sky daddy and Co, don't. They insight hatred in many and indoctrination in others. So I think we can leave the fact that some words in this incredibly powerful and stunning song, happen to also be in that ridiculous and horrific, hateful, disgusting book of utter drivel, as nothing more than they sounded good, which they did and that they then made the song sound incredible. Other than that, so what about "god"? PROVE he exists first and just maybe we can discuss this more. Until then... STFU. Thank you.

I usually don’t comment on KZbin, or most platforms, but this song is worth commenting for- I’m a religious man who NEVER sings or raises his hands or gets emotional in church. In fact, worship services annoy me for those very reasons. This is THE ONE song that actually makes me feel something, that makes me want to raise my hands in the air (pounding the sky), wanting to dance and even sing (and I DONT SING). This song gives me incredible hope, when I’m depressed, feeling like I’m drowning inside, this song keeps me above the surface, keeps me balanced. This song, to me, sounds like victory, if victory had an anthem. Kyrie Eleison down the road that I must travel, Kyrie Eleison through the darkness of the night, Kyrie Eleison where I go that you will follow, Kyrie Eleison on the highway in the light. Going down a dark road, to get to the light

I was a teenager in the 80s. I turned 21, 1989. It's had some of the best music. Sadly, I misunderstood the lyrics to this song for a long time. I used to think they said, "Carry a lazer." I never understood it. When I found out, I had that moment in time when all the lights suddenly came on and the "do I feel dumb" expression on my face.

It was great. Everyone looks back at rosey times and it is typically better, but as a teen in the 80s it was a special time. No mobiles, internet blah blah, just great music and messing about in the woods ;-)

Best music era : 80's 0% sexuality 0% vulgarity 0% religion 0% racism 0% discrimination 0% judgement 100% talent 100% rhythm 100% hits Survived through more than 40 years and STILL PLAYS today in 2024 ! Are inspiring young generations. 80's still have the magic touch and will ALWAYS ROCK 🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤

This song is such a reminder that everyone in a band is crucial. It reminds me of the boys holding each other down. You have the lead singer who is great, but this song is nothing without the 2 other singers and the drummer. The way he adlibs and the 2 other singers absolutely crush the chorus. This is music everyone

Few people realize that the Lord’s discipline and his rod of correction is also his mercy. Proverbs 3:11 11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.[b]
