I am an avid Supremes fan since 1964, but a few years ago I woke up and started listening to the Marvelettes, who are very underrated.

Don’t sleep on The Marvelettes and think they only had one or two hit records like The Velvelettes. These girls had a string of top tens!!!

I'm a musician and publisher who used to back 60's artists in the south in the 80's. We backed The Shirelles for two years, Percy Sledge for two years, Dorothy Moore, and many more. We did shows for Larry Marshak's artists which included one excruciating date behind one of Marshaks acts The Marvelettes. These girls told us they were the original group but it became obvious during our one and only rehearsal that they had little stage experience. The show that night was disasterous, but they tried to convince Marshak it was the bands fault. I applaud Ms. Horton for bringing her story to the forefront and if you need a publisher we're interested.

I think its wonderful you can corroborate Gladys Horton's story of betrayal, but unfortunately your offer to assist her with a publisher is a little too late. She has been dead for at least 10 years.

It is my understanding that prior to Gladys Horten's passing, she was successful in winning a lawsuit case that gave her and another original Marvelettes member the rights to the Marvelettes name. She has two sons and I believe one of them is handling his mother's affairs as the heir to her estate

It's a shame how Motown discards their Artists once they achieved the success that was needed. Surprised how shady Smokey Robinson was/is then again he was Berry Gordy's right hand man at Motown and BFF.

This is the first time I have ever heard anyone speak ill of Smokey Robinson (other than to say he was a chronic cheater). How disappointing to know he is just another shady bleep. And as far as I know Gladys Horton never did get her book published. That too is disappointing.

@@watchNpraydotNet I'm assuming neither Gladys Horton and Kim Weston were ever able to find publishers. They may be part of Motown history but its possible publishers think there isn't enough interest in their personal lives to make their memories marketable.

@@wilfordfraser6347 Yes, publishers like to make their money too. If, they feel the book won't sell. They won't publish it. Famous people, like Hillary Clinton, and Michele Obama, will get an advance check for their book. Before it is published. Life, is not always fair. My grandmother told me.

I'm not taking sides on this, but.......had Gladys, Kat, Georgeanna or Wanda been a bit savvier, they would have got that legally resolved in advance of Larry Marshack sharks, who (be honest) had nothing to stop them other than a conscience. It's nice Kat Anderson is now using that name to promote her "new" Marvelettes, (very talented and lovely young girls), and deservedly earns some decent $$$$ she strived for. It would have been nice if Kat would have contributed a bit to (late) Wanda Rogers, that's another story. Everyone made money off Marvelettes to this day, song writers, publishing rights and (lets face it) the knock-off's.

They like many young inexperience not business savvy. They were taken advantage of. The music business has always been scandalous.
