Thank you for this song. I’m former military with the US Army 101st Airborne / Air Assault Division. I’m a law enforcement officer now and have a total of 35 years of combined service. Back during the war with Iraq a police officer in my town, where I worked as a deputy sheriff, volunteered, joined the Army and went to Iraq. He was killed by an IED. He was in his 20’s. The town was devastated. Never forget the fallen and the ones still standing the line. I serve now as a law enforcement officer serving in the USA and we stand a line also. I’ve had many officers I know shot and killed or shot in the line of duty. We do what we do because it’s who we are. God bless you and GOD BLESS THE USA!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The only time I let my tears fall... holding my fear of losing loved ones serving, deep inside. My shield is knowing when I wore my uniform, I knew the possibilities, I believed in my duty. I was and am proud of my service, my family tradition of service, and my grandson's current service. This song is amazing and nails the sacrifice by members and their families. Bless you Coffey

19 years ago today, my fellow paratrooper Eric Burri paid the ultimate price in Iraq. This morning, I sent Coffey Anderson's song to Eric's father. Barely an hour later, by pure chance, I met Coffey in an airport. Made sure to tell him about these events, and he seemed genuinely moved. Mr Anderson thank you for your song and for being such a personable man. As a vet who served with people who didn't make it home, it means a lot. RIP SPC Eric T. Burri, KIA 7 June 2005, Baghdad, Iraq. AATW

Every time i hear this song i just think of my battle buddy from basic training. His words still ring in my head "when i die i want it to be making this world a better place" that was the last thing i heard from him before he sadly took his own life. He gave his all for what he believed in but when he got back home the world he believed in forgot him. He was tossed aside by his own family and wife. He felt like the world was against him

My dream since I was a kid was to join the service. And then I turned 16 and was diagnosed with epilepsy and since I've gotten older I've van diagnosed with more health issues which has kept me from entering the services and I've just wanted to get rid of these health issues and get into the service because I don't want to keep feeling like I haven't done my part to keep this country the way it is. Thank you to all that has served and is serving now. God Bless America and to those who have gave their life.

My graduating class had 67 kids. Of those 67, almost 20 chose to serve. Of us 20 who swore the oath, 8 of us went combat arms. Of these 8 infantrymen, 3 deployed to Iraq while two stayed in garrison; Waylon and I both deployed to Afghanistan by 2019. Was the best and the worst time of my life. Some days I miss the circus but for the most part I mainly just miss the clowns.
