If someone says these are a bit boring, to me it translates that it's wearable in real life. I don't want to choke someone in a lift or get sent home by my boss from the office for wearing some artistically creative yet polorasing fragrance. Frags heads get too into fragrance sometimes and forget that simple gentlemanly fragrances that smell of quality are not only people pleasers, but livable with. I own more creed than other houses purely that I like the smell more times than not with their offerings. The ones I do own, I think, smell great.

I really can't describe how much I got to really love this channel. The interaction with the other reviewers in spontaneous, comedic way is just the way to go. Like making a friendly mockery of some of these guys while maintaining class. I just love folks from England. I mean what a bunch of classy lot. Haha. Love the way you don't jump the bandwagon and you don't fall for overhype. I love watching talk about Creed and I been on the edge of my seat wanting to buy a Creed bottle and just the price has to be right. I'm not one who won't but I think some scents are worth the price. Creed sent me a sample of Royal Oud, Green Irish Tweed and Silver Mountain Water. I know for a fact the Armaf ones Milestones and Sillage to my nose is JUST as good. The differences are so minute it's a no brainer. Royal Oud on the other hand is just the very best scent in every way I ever smelled. Hands down. No doubt. Just when I smelled it was when Creed sold their name or sold out to another company. A company that gained their reputation over centuries and held such standards as they say from father to son, just the almighty dollar is good enuff to destroy it. Destroy it they did. They got watered down and you get less juice. So I'm not paying anything over $200. If you can find a way to get to discounters or get some codes, I'm down. I held out on Parfums De Marly and last month I found Carlisle for $196. Got it and second best smell that went thru my nose. Thank you for these videos. You really are such a universe better than any reviewer out there.

I’ve enjoyed your videos for a good while now and have purchased various fragrances on the back of them. I love the way you are real: you don’t over worry about “offending” people and sometimes you make me burst out laughing. In this particular video, I did exactly that when you described Creed Irish Tweed as representing “a walk in the Irish countryside” and then showed (I think) a provo sniper on the side of the road!!! As an Irish man, I think that is brilliant, ballsy and hilarious - like you, we don’t take ourselves that seriously and we love a good gag no matter if it’s directed at us. Good on ya 👍🏻😉

That was perfectly said at the end about the Creed house smell. They make light brisk gentlemanly scents that aren't mesnt to announce themselves when you enter a room all the time(with some exceptions). He seems to have more of an appreciation for Aventus in particular now as he has done comparison videos to Hacivat and the colonge version. He obviously was familiar with the DNA. He had confused Sauvage with Aventus and unfortunately Aventus was the one that got the over the top criticism in that fragmental video.

smell is subjective, even for a perfumer. We just can give our personal view. Taste also changes over time. Ratings are giving a direction but it might be the wrong direction.

I don't recall seeing any online reviews of Aaron Terance Hughes fragrances? Do you know of any? I looked on his website ... the description of some of his fragrances seem to be what I would call 'fashionable shocking' or 'punk avante gard' .. reminds me in a way of what Secretions Magnifique and Zoologist try to do. In fairness that is only the vibe his fragrance descriptions give off to me - I am not an expert and have not tried his fragrances. I have watched a few of his videos with Fragmental ... found them initially enjoyable then as the deep, often harsh, criticism of some very good and highly rated fragrances continued the blunt criticism frankly became annoying. Not helpful, not informative and not my taste ... I will not be clicking on or viewing any more such videos.

I think the most we can ask from fragrance reviewers is to let us know what is in their heads and in their hearts...and you both do that in your own ways! I love hearing multiple reviews about a fragrance so when I try something myself I have a wealth of knowledge to draw upon in making my own decision as to whether I like something and what its performance might be like. Aberdeen Lavender sounds really interesting. 🤔

There are two Creed fragrances I like: Original Vetiver and Green Irish Tweed. I used up my bottle of GIT about 15 years ago and didn't replace it because by that point the scent was copied and sort of old hat, but I still like it. I'm down to about 1/2 inch of OV left in the bottle. I think it is a lovely scent and under appreciated. I seem to be the only person who does not like Aventus. The pineapple is far too literal and aggressive. I don't care to smell like a Saturday brunch garnish.
@Teeb20233 жыл бұрын
I love most of the Creeds I've tried; faves being Royal Oud, BdP, GIT, Erolfa, but the thing about them being so expensive is kinda inescapable, more so when their scents seem to be getting "weaker" while the price keeps rising. The following is not necessarily a dig at Creed's pricing, specifically, but at the whole image of being a Creed user - I priced a bottle of Royal Oud online recently, on the website of high street store : £280 for 100ml, but I had also been checking the price of decants / samples, and found a 50ml decant for £93. Fairly simple to work out... you could potentially get 150ml (3 x 50ml decant) for £1 LESS than the price of one 100ml "genuine" bottle. So, basically, people are paying 50% more, just for the privilege of it being in a Creed bottle? Is the atomiser really _that_ good? ;-)

I think that you should get at least a decant of Viking. It is a great fragrance and gets better the more you wear it. Has that fougere vibe that you like and is kinda unique with dominant mint (only one I can think of that is really similar is Frederich Malle's Geranium Pour Monsieur). I think you would enjoy it if you give it a little bit of wear

My criticism of creed is pretty dumb but it really bothers me that they stopped putting that velvet type label on the bottles or suede like they have been replaced with a pretty plain sticker after decreasing the size of the bottles which I wasn’t very fond of while charging same price and now with the cheaper labels I don’t like the direction they are going with that. Being Bois Du Portugal is my favorite I like to buy a new bottle every year when I received the new bottle it was like a bastard child in my collection

When I first got into fragrance Creed was my go to. As time went on I obviously got into other scents which were more ‘interesting’ and some of the Creeds have been pushed to the back of the shelf. Aaron T.H’s analysis of fragrances are very strange and it is very surprising that a parfumer did not recognize/ tried classics in the fragrance world such as Aventus and GIT. Aaron is entitled to his opinion and personally i agree with him that they are over-priced. Aventus is copied so many times that you smell it everywhere now so it is boring. They are not good considering they are very weak mainly and do not tend to have big longevity so the price they charge is outrageous. Just because they are expensive does not mean they are worth it, you pay for the name and hype. The ingredients are no more expensive than a lot of niche brands so its the name you pay for
@BeRadMH4 жыл бұрын
He did his own video review of Aventus saying that he liked it..... I commented about the discrepancy in his opinion and he responded by saying that he was reviewing it as a fragrance overall rather than his personal taste. It still seems strange though, since as you said he called it "chemical sludge" when he smelled it blindly. He also reviewed Nasomatto Pardon and raved about it, but when he smelled it blind he said he preferred the Alexandria Clone. I appreciate his intensity, but I think he's sometimes a bit too volatile and makes rash judgment based on his mood at the time.

Pocket scents do some good quality Creed clones. You liked one of their TF clones Neroli Forte which I subsequently bought and like. Creed don’t really appeal to me as locally (Manchester) they are predominantly bought and used by drug dealer / gangsters, which puts me off them altogether. You're right on the money, Dan. I agree with you that the guy was unfair, out of touch and rather abrasive about his takes on Creed frags. Good show, Dan. I definitely get a little power-mad man in a box vibe out of my Mayfair clone, which I wear regularly in cooler weather. There is still art in the "mundane" - when done exceedingly well. My Creed clones of all mentioned help anchor my collection. In sampling real Xerjoff, T Ford, Amouage, I've found Creed does fresh for hot weather as well as anything I've smelled. In US agree w ATH though re big Creed prices. US = UK x 2. Enjoy the originals, across-pond-ers. BdPortugal is timeless. Because it is maybe more a wardrobe piece than an exiting experience should not eliminate it's art-worthy-ness. There is art in exellent executiom, something ATH did seem to acknowledge but for his price, daring-less-ness complaints.

ATH has given vastly different opinions on the same perfume in a short period of time. I suspect it may be a mood thing for him. Both Aventus and Sauvage which he has said very unflattering things about on Fragmental and even on his own channel he has surprisingly subsequently given very positive reviews of on his own channel only to revert to unflattering comments thereafter. It may be that we are not always sure of whether he is speaking as a chemist about the chemical composition of the fragrance or his view as an artistic perfumer about the scent itself. A little confusing at times. His reviews seem to reflect his personality..which seems somewhat complex. I also found it very odd that as a perfumer he didn't know so many very popular and celebrated fragrances but that could be a result of said complexity. Having listened to his reviews on his own channel however I have come to understand his perspectives somewhat...and it is certainly an interesting, even if a tad confusing, take on fragrances.

Aaron just thinks they are boring which is fair enough. People will think his stuff is boring.... personally I love Bois du Portugal but the other creeds I am not to bothered about.

I've warmed to ATH. At first I thought he hated everything he hadn't created. Not so. When he reviews now, he bases half the score on his taste and half on the technical skill in creating it. Creed is way too mass appealing for him. He likes "filth" in his frags. Lastly, if ATH thinks Aventus is chemical sludge...geez....put a sample of office for men under his nose! 🤥

The criticism of Creed has baffled me from the time that I started this journey. When I investigated Creed I found unique and pleasant fragrances and I have more than 15 now and still feel that way. I wouldn't pay retail but you don't have to. Then I realized that I've seen the same thing in other forums that I followed. There is always a brand that some people have determined to be items used by "dentists." These people however are much wiser and sophisticated and won't fall for these deceptions. In guitars it's PRS electric guitars, in golf Scotty Cameron putters and in fragrance, Creed perfumes. Mr. Hughes is one of these, only worse since he is a cork sniffer too. I don't need him.

Interesting video Mr Smelly. Really enjoyed it. Creed was my gateway house into nicer perfumes. Royal Oud, BdP, and Original Santal are 3 of my absolute favorites. If im being honest they are very safe,tame, and businesslike. Wearing Creed gets compliments and being told I smell ‘nice’. Some people aren’t interested in ‘nice’. I will defend Royal Oud to the death but Creed isnt exactly catering towards all age demographics.

The problem with creed fragrances is people get caught up in the price point. I don't know how people come to believe this, but they think it's more expensive so it must be better. But it's really not the case, there are so many other houses that make better fragrances at a fraction of the cost. Like you pointed out Givenchy or Chanel to name but two, but there are hundreds of houses that make fabulous scents. And here I would like to list them all, but let's just say from aigner to Yves rocher via Bogart and Wolfgang Joop. I honestly blame a lot of the perfume reviewers they are doubly responsible for the rise of creed and the total misconception that punters find themselves in. Maybe it's about time that KZbin vloggers started to reset the balance and started telling the truth to punters who cannot afford to buy many fragrances just to find their favourite or signature cologne. MAYBE?

I find ATH to be a bit of a bull in a china shop: all hat and no cows really! :) Confusing notes for one another and in general having a very obscure idea about fragrances. I love all Creeds in this video, including Viking. I have many niche frags but Creed representation in my collection is by far most dominant...

I just got into fragrances this year. never heard of creed until this year....so this "Aventus boring...time to move on" makes zero sense to those new ppl who love fragrances..and there will always be new people..Aventus is one of the best scent I have ever smelled (within 50+ fragrances)..PERIOD...So get what you love, and ignore other's opinions, specially when biased.
@SeanMBrown84 жыл бұрын
Can’t agree with you anymore about Aventus. That many people have it now or claim to have it untill I question them and they say it’s a cheap copy lads at work sell for £10. I no longer turn my head to the smell anymore, it’s not different or unique anymore. It actually has a reputation here now with ‘chavs’ wearing it. It’s a nice smell but I think it’s had it’s day.

Sean Brown Exactly, I said earlier about a counter being in a house of Fraser, and every time I go past it, there’s the same type of people there, youngsters who’ve Googled expensive aftershave and the first one that comes up, surprise surprise Creed.. they go in blind don’t know what their buying have no idea when to wear scents in the seasons of the year, drop a week’s wage on their high interest rate credit card, then walk around saying I’m wearing Creed, makes me laugh.. there’s designer fragrance’s that have better performance imo and more unique compositions.. Like you say “it’s a nice smell but it’s had it’s day” totally agree but I believe that true for the brand also, it’s no longer Niche if the masses are buying it!!
@SeanMBrown84 жыл бұрын
dante77 77 yup and when they say they’re ‘wearing creed’ haha its pathetic. I was on a night out in Chester last year and the guy in the toilets had this fake bottle of aventus. Again all the students were round him giving him £2 for a few sprays. The guy next to me washing his hand said that’s a fake bottle and that he was wearing creed So I said ah right what one?? And he says EEER that one. Straight away I knew he was just a blagger just like the students. I don’t get what the hype is, if your wearing aventus, wear it. If not just say what your wearing.

He just not into real masculine old school frags. Hes even stated that he is intimidated by straight men. So when he smells Creeds masculines he probably gets scared and doesn't like it becuase of personal past experiences with straight men. Can't say I blame em on that one. But there is no denying Creeds quality. Alot of niche houses are so unisex leaning mostly feminine that I stay away from. I've tried many but Creeds to me are beautifully masculine timeless quality frags that exude authority. He just thinks of authority figures when he smells Creeds.

I just think he's unapologetically honest. If you watch his whole videos, he does say it's not for him. He also gives credit even if he doesn't like the smell. He just has a crazy taste.

Just like Jeremy has a raging two-incher for Sauvage and Aventus....the common, mainstream scents make ATH 10 inches soft. He would undoubtedly say that nothing from Creed is worth the price...and he's right. He also says that he isn't the target demographic for the fragrances.

I’ve never got the hype over Creed! There’s a shopping centre near me with a House Of Fraser which have a display of all the Creeds, men and woman and so I’ve tried a few as I’ve passed by, to me they all genuinely go to a skin scent within about an hour two at tops, so have never taken a jump and paid out for one, I much prefer TFPB and perfume de Marly.. One thing I will say, I think Creed’s own success unfortunately could be its demise, because what puts me off more than anything else, being that it’s a niche fragrance, is that fact that it’s in a house of Fraser store and part of the same company as sports direct, there’s always plenty of people in tracksuit’s and hoodies at the counter, now I’m not pointing my finger or categorising people, but for me it’s not niche anymore if that’s the case, sorry but no thank you, Creed’s had it’s day, a mainstream brand now
@rustyshackleford174 жыл бұрын
Creed is like a 20 year old scotch. Are they good? Yeah. Are they worth the price? No. They're the product/brand that exists in all communities. While undoubtedly good, the value isn't there.
