Hi Justin, apparently the Lincoln Aviator inherited a few ride quality issues from the Ford Explorer. Maybe Lincoln will make running changes to the platform to achieve that "magic carpet ride" so many shoppers seek. I'm so glad I found your KZbin channel. Your skill at video presentation is exemplary, reaching broadcast media standards. Thank you for an excellent review!

Nice review and you used my color too....if I ever get it...:) Although I understand there are some pretty big problems with the 2020's. I hope they get the bugs out for '21....I don't mind waiting a bit longer for that!!

@@johnh8705 Oh boy, that sucks! Well, primarily for the possibility of bugs I went ahead and leased this car. I have never leased before but I am willing to pay the extra over the term to have peace of mind and a bit more leverage should things go south! I have to say though that the first two days have been amazing! What a great car when everything is working properly...:)

@@whatsupwithsteve that's great because I'm considering swapping for a 2021 model or the new Escalade. I enjoy driving the newest models and expect some issues but this thing was great for a week... One day the computer booted like Windows 95. The cloud intro was skipping, then the navigation showed an error a few days later. Three of the plastic speaker covers on the headliner came off. When it started making noise from the front driver's side wheel area I finally took it in. Apparently my Aviator was part of a "bad batch" according to the Ford engineers. I'm looking at the salesperson like "why would you have that on the lot for sale?" After some research I found a forum where Explorer owners are complaining about the same noise coming from the front driver's side. It's unfortunate but my dealership has been great. I'm in a Nautilus loaner and that's a bummer.

Awesome video and review! Lincoln is back! Justin do you prefer Lincoln over Cadillac currently?

Hey Keith I'm a fan of the PHEV tech, in this segment, the Cadillac doesn't offer it, but I do like the Highway ride in the xt6 better than the Aviator. Lincoln is doing some impressive stuff lately too. Both good options I reckon, drive both and see what you like the best. Cheers

Hi Justin, Thank you for the great video and the thorough review. I’m actually very interested in this particular model, the PHEV. I live in Northern Ontario as well so I’m quite keen on learning more from you. Do you own this one? Did you get to try it during winter ? If you would be kind to share more thoughts please.

Hi there! Hello from Sudbury! I don't own a vehicle as I am a reviewer, however I did spend about ten days driving that unit. And have spent many days driving many similar units as well. Though I did not drive this Lincoln in the cold weather, I would expect to lose about 15 maybe 20% of the electric range on very cold days, talking ten to twenty below or colder. You can mitigate this by preheating the vehicles cabin on grid power with a timer built into the computer, or via your smartphone. the cold reduces the range of all vehicles, the modern plug-in stuff gives you a few means to mitigate that, and that's the main one. Stay tuned for more!

Fantastic review Justin but why not cross shop it with a Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 or 450?
@JustinPritchard

Thank you! You totally should cross shop those two. Pros and cons to each. The Aviatior is a more comfortable ride on our roads in North Ontario, GLE has a more striking cabin, list goes on. Try em all!

Do you still recommend having a level 2 charger in your home? Level 1 is too slow and level 3 is too expensive so level 2 is the sweet spot?
@JustinPritchard
@JustinPritchard 4 жыл бұрын
@@Kareem987 actually, that depends on many factors. Level 2 means, probably, you'll always have a full battery when you leave, even if you are in and out of the house many times per day. That's because on level to this vehicle can be recharged in about 3 hours..and that's assuming it's empty. for me that's the best way because I'm self-employed and frequently in and out of the house running around. For others level two is overkill, and just plugging into level one would be sufficient for a trickle charge. Slower, yes, but maybe enough. Keeping in mind that you never have to plug in at all, you just look at your driving habits. How often do you leave the house with the vehicle? How far do you drive when you do? if the vehicle is used more frequently during the day on shorter trips then level 2 makes more sense because the battery will be more charged more of the time, maximizing your electric range (and minimizing your fuel use. The more you plug in the less gas you use). Or, maybe, you only leave the house with your vehicle a few times a week. so if it regularly sits for more than 24 hours or so then level 1 charging would be enough for many. I don't believe you can install level 3 at home because it uses far more power from the grid. FYI, the vast majority of plug-in hybrid vehicles do not use level 3 charging, including Aviator. Level 3 is mainly used at public charging stations for pure EVs. Stay tuned, I'm working on another video on this topic that you may find interesting!
