*IMPORTANT: for anyone having problems with this app, this is the solution. If you have CTD's, etc., do this. 1. Close the sim, which may not be hard if it has crashed! 2. If you have the App open, make sure you click "Stop"! If the app is not running, open it and make sure it is not running/active. Click "Stop". 3. Close the app. 4. Go into this folder (you can literally just copy and paste this into Windows Explorer): C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc 5. Delete the "hosts" file. 6. Restart the sim. I've used the mod, and it works pretty well. The only real issue I've found is that, at least in the less developed areas east of San Diego, the tile edges are very apparent.

This is a nice mod if you fly low altitude, slow aircraft. I fly airliners and when I use this mod I can see out on the horizon where the map data is loading and where the original msfs data meet and it is constantly loading “boxes” near that horizon and it drives me absolutely crazy. Really wish there was a way to fix that because this program does make the ground look good

The colouring is not more realistic, it is simply from a different part of the year. The default images of the Inn Valley look like they have been taken some time around May and the new ones like they are from August.

I am trying the pro version at the moment (30 days ,$5) quite happy with it. I do a lot of VFR flying; it is great for me. The clouds aren't a problem...I haven't noticed any yet. Edit10/10/2024: (Pro version) We can see the shape of a few clouds (currently flying Guyana and North of Brasil) looking like discoloration but way way better than what Bing maps offers. It looks so good that I wonder if a move to MSFS 2024 will be necessary.

This is a fantastic utility, but, there is a MAJOR issue with it. I ran this utility recently and it immediately(!!!) proceeded to download an update, and, upon restart of the app, it auto-updated. This is EXTREMELY bad practice by any software company...for obvious security etc reasons. The user should always be asked if they want to both download and install any update/piece of software. I always wait till some time after a new update to see if issues have been reported by others. I've checked the options and, unless I'm missing something, I see no way of preventing this automatic download & install behaviour. What do others think?

I've been using this mod for a bit and like it. I have been noticing that when I forget to start, the sim will load but I'm always flying offline (so those lovely FS2004 graphics - hehehe). Finally linked the two as when I run the mod, I don't have the issue. I'm on the latest version so guessing my issue is different. Did delete my HOSTS file so we'll soo.

Does that mod have any issues with like conflicting with the original bing maps from msfs, because in previous version i had the problem when beeing in higher altitudes the terrain in further distances looked like the default bing data, and the terrain in closer distances was the mod bing data, so the mod bing datas only loaded in closer distances and that was really annoying so unistalled it. My Lod is at 200 so that cant be it

I've had the same issue which is why I stopped using this mod. In fact, the same issue happens with the terrain coloring feature in AccuSeason, so I stopped using that too.

Hi, have downloaded Map Enhancement and tried to fly in the region of the Dominican Republic, in Samana where standard maps are really bad. Cannot see any difference after loading the Maps. They are running in the background but there is absolutely no difference with the standard sim. Also tried to change the groundcolors but they also do not work. Have installed eerything as stated in your video. Rolling cache deleted and off in sim and Map Enhancement tool. Any idea please?

This new microphone hits different! After trying 8.0.7 with Google Maps, it indeed is the better textures solution, although I started to have an immense amount of stuttering compared to vanilla bing images. I read somewhere that it might happen, Google throttles your IP if excessive usage is tracked. Don´t know if it holds true. You don´t know of a fix for this by any chance? For now I am back to greenland images and hoping for 2024 to improve it overall.

Try the Bing maps, because it's the same servers as MSFS uses, no throttling. Or try a VPN.

I use Google Pro and this never happens and never been throttled. But, some days MSFS just runs poorly and stutters a lot. Do not know why. VR FlightSimGuy speaks about this issue. On those days, I just do something elese and come back to it later.

Enabe high LOD only when you are under altitude X: does the msfs without this mod have this setting somewhere? Sometimes it really bothers me that I'm at for example 16 000 feet and the city is just 2d flat model like a printed on paper. I would love to see higher quality even from higher altitudes. I wonder if I can tweak this setting without this mod or no. Or is this setting something completely else? Thanks.

I tried the mod, but what I find is that at high altitude all look fine, but there are things like airports with unfinished runways, trees overlapping buildings, images of airplanes that aren’t there but an image remains, grass running into taxiways, or areas that are completely devoid of trees and are entirely brown. I decided to delete all traces of the mid and revert to Asobo. I’m not sure what it was, but everything is fine and looks great as long as you’re thousands if feet in the air. Low altitude flying has overlapping scenery everywhere. Please tell me if there are some settings I missed.

I have never had any issues with it, though I know that people have. There’s a workaround if you have the hosts issue, but that is now fixed with this update anyhow. I guess anything can happen but I’m using it.

Hi! Once you select a map setting and click Start, the sim will use those maps every time you run it until you click Stop. So if you don’t stop it and just close the app, the next time you run the sim it will use the same maps you selected.

Map Enhancement Mod has been crashing my computer for the last week or two. I loved it before that. Boot drive wiped, re-installed windows, total clean re-install of MSFS, not one other third party app even installed, still crashes. System runs great ( better than ever actually) until I turn on Map Enhancement then as soon as I hit fly it either crashes or simply stays on the loading screen forever. 😢

decided to give the mod a second try and it has infact borked up my sim again. Even after deleting the host file and stopping the program and uninstalling, I still see the map mods satellite imagery and I get freezes trying to load into certain airports I had no problems with before.

I love the idea of this but last summer I tried it and it totally broke my sim or atleast its what I think it was, I tried to uninstall msfs after it wouldn't open but when I couldn't uninstall reinstall I ended up reinstalling windows. After reading the reviews and latest reviews I hear similar but a lot more sour reviews than good. Not sure why it doesn't seem to just work for people. Now this was before I knew it modified those few files I could have changed them back... but is there a fool proof way that this thing won't cause major issues. I was thinking about putting this on 2020 after 2024 comes out just incase it screws it up. I love how you can change the brightness, color of the land. It's amazing really if it doesn't jack things up. BTW I did try rex weather force... but I was giggling on that one, unless there too I wasn't doing something right. But it would be clear then it reached another reporting station then overcast as far as the eye can see then back to clear and so on...love rex accuseason tho thats amazing.. love your videos!

The developer has fixed these issues. Just be sure that MSFS is totally shut down and closed before turning off the Map Enhancement Mod. For whatever reason, MSFS does not close completely sometimes and and gets hung in the memory. You can see this if you have a performance monitor or use the performance monitor that is built into the Windows Task Manager. Even when this happens, and the Map Enhancement Mod is closed before MSFS, it usually is not an issue anymore. If you own the Steam version and MSFS won't start or gets hung on searching for updates, just run the Steam file validation tool in the the properties section for MSFS in the Steam Library. If any files are corrupt it will reinstall those specific files. I had to do this twice when I updated the DLSS.dll and MSFS didnt like it for some reason. Upon validating the files, the orginal DLSS.dll was resnstalled and MSFS started. I then resinstalled the DLSS.dll fie and everything was copacetic. I have been using this tool for 2 years and only once had an issue. That was in the very early days of development.

I run REX Accuseasons, and when i run the map enhancement at the same time, Rex overrides the maps.

REX Accuseasons does not install any maps. It just uses filters to change the ground color and installs new textures for trees. Bijan Season Mod does the same as REX Accuseasons.

@@mikevadnais7722 Yes, REX applies a filter to dull the map to make it look like Winter and Fall. There is no filter for Sring or Summer. Bijan does the same, but its a little more complicated and doesnt update as REX. When Asobo talks about seasons in MSFS 20224 this is what they are talking about. Also, REX and Bijan install new treee and bush textures for fall and winter and adjusts tree height. REX also has an option to lessen autogen trees in city environments to make cities look a lot nicer. I use this mod everyday!!!.

Great mod but totally fu***d up my online functionality settings. Connection lost -switched to offline message all the time. After uninstall still the same, had to delete some rows from local hosts file. Now game works well as before. Handle with care.

Thats because the developers of your addon airports did not add any ground scenery, ie grass, bushes etc., to the scenery. Fly2High is famous for this and a lot freeware developers do the same.

@@abdulaz1986 Google sometimes will kick you off the server. If you use the Bing maps there is zero chance of that, it uses the same servers that MSFS uses.

As you well say in that pinned comment this is you had to Stop the Map Enhancement before closing. My issue was that I closed it without stopping it and that made the sim go crazy. I tried deleting the host file and that still didn’t fix it. I just ended up uninstalling and reinstalling and of course that fixed the issue. Thanks so much anyways!

Because your resolution is 4K, I'd suggest you not maximize the apps you show in your videos. Leave them as normal windows, that way you can set them in the center of the screen and scroll up and down if you have to. I have serious problems following you on your lossless app videos for instance. I have to look far left, far right, way up constantly. But if a normal window, we would be able to focus on one area.

Google Earth server it's useless. Their satellite images are full of mosaic-like pictures, different colors, I don't understand why people want to continue using this server. In my case I use Apple Maps, it is not perfect but in many areas it is the one that looks best. For that I have to have the license purchased
