Respect should be earned not begged! আমরা মুষ্টিমেয় মেয়েদের বরাবরই এগিয়ে রাখতে গিয়ে, বেশীভাগ সময় দুর্বলতর মেয়েদের এবং পুরুষদের নিগৃহীত করছি। একটা ছেলেকে সংসারের হাল ধরতেই হবে! পুরুষ যদি বলেন আমি বাসার কাজকর্মগুলো দেখে নিবো আর বৌকে চাকরি করে সংসারের সবার ভরণপোষণ করতে হবে, তখন আর ঐ লোকের বৌ জুটবে কি না কে জানে! দুইজন চাকরি করলেও মেয়েটির চাকরির টাকার খরচ অধিকাংশ সময় নিজের প্রসাধনী আর হাসব্যান্ডের আর সন্তানের টুকটাক কিছুর জন্য কিন্তু একজন পুরুষকে খাদ্য, বস্ত্র, বাসস্থান, শিক্ষা, চিকিৎসা সহ পারিবারিক মনরঞ্জনেরও ব্যবস্থাও করতে হয়। চিকিৎসা। Gender equality সেইদিনই প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবে যেদিন বাবাকে আর ভাইদেরকে যৌতুক জোগাতে হবে না, মেয়ে নিজের বিয়ের খরচটা নিজেই দেবে! ভাইদের ও বৌদের বাড়ি থেকে যৌতুকও কিন্তু তখন নেওয়ার দরকারই পড়বে না! এতে তো বোনের উপর চাপ বাড়লো না বরঞ্চ ভাইদের বৌগুলো যৌতুক দিতে না হওয়ায় বাঁচলেন!
