Honestly, both bands sound excellent!!! FAMU is a great band. But, I must say… BCU is #1!! Great Personality!!! Great Spirit!!! Great Dancers (14K Gold)!!! Pure Authentic HBCU Band Soul at its’ VERY BEST!!! Always a Fantastic Show!!! BCU Marching Wildcats = HBCU Band Perfection!!! 💯

FAMU & BCU Bands performs quality Music Literature that requires students to be able to read music. Music is a Universal Language and if you can read music, you can perform with any musician in the world. Sorry, we don't rote train our students, or play by ear. And we perform all dynamic levels from pianissimo to fortissimo with musicality.

I've noticed that bands like famu and many 300+ pwi bands can have around 100 woodwinds. Famu often has around 50 in the drum line (at least in past years). That's 150 right there!

It's apart of their signature sound. Woodwinds are vital to their arrangements and marches they play unlike any other hbcu

Most bands are brass heavy but FAMUs signature sound is more woodwind heavy. It's a nice change.

Not true. For one the camera was damn near in front of Cookman and FAMU was still cutting through them. Especially when they got to playa full song like vice versa towards the end. You’re very delusional. Whomever that camera person was clearly a Cookman fan because famu at the end of the video didn’t finish their song but the video got cut off

"Both bands are boring" - here's what we mean: music has an emotional factor (how it makes you feel). FAMU & BCU sound good but the music lacks emotion; the students seem to play from their head (memory) not their heart (passion). And If they're not feeling it, neither are the listeners. So it's not really that they're boring, we just feel no emotion while they're playing. 💁🏾‍♂️ They Sound good though.

Hmm 🤔🤔I tend to get chills from their cleanliness, chords , singing etc . That’s a very happy , emotion lol . I just think there are people who get a kick out of what they do and there are people who get a kick out of what all other bands do , which is basically play with more power . Those are great bands as well .

@@thomasperkins2990 🤔 Sometimes. But "power" isn't the sole indicator. In every written piece, there are specific musical terms to dictate Dynamics, Tempo, & Style - *all* these are indicators. I think the musical terms for Style (ie Affecto, Dolcissimo, Appassionato, Adagio, etc) convey emotion moreso than dynamics (f, ff, fff). 🤷🏾‍♂️ just my thoughts though.

Ugh... this was really boring and lack luster. I was expecting more. The early intros to the skating on some of the songs, just meh! Both bands need some new band directors. I feel like the energy is just so drab. They have talented musicians but ugh, give them something to work with.
