How do the lights hold up I’ve seen bad reviews of the lights bubbling and getting bad

Awesome dude. Yeah I never thought about that. Not all halos are wired the same. It depends on the brand you got. But the basic concept is the same. Usually the halo wires are separate and need their own power source. You might need to tap into another wire for that. My lights came with connectors for taping into existing wires but I didn’t need to use them.

Not exactly plug and play but they look fantastic ! Trim and bumper paint works amazing for the black plastics and is durable.

Ok thanks. I will have to look into that. Yeah the lights weren’t exactly plug and play but pretty close. I was just being a big dummy and over thought it. It took me way longer than it should have. But the company could have easily just ran those wires. That threw me off a bit because I figured they would have done that. My other sets of lights for my truck were all plug and play. This was my first time with this brand.

Instructions were terrible. Haven’t done fog lights yet. Wires are around $100. Unless I make my own

I have an R32 and on the ECS website it says you need to have the extra wiring harness to get the angel eyes to work properly. I'm not sure why you didn't get the harness to begin with before installing the new lights. Are you sure MKIV came with built in fogs in the main headlamp? Are you happy with the fitment of these Spec D's?

Hello OldKid6, thanks for watching. ECS was not a part of this equation. I bought these off EBay. It came with all of the wiring. I didn't have to buy any extra wires to get halos to work. MKIVs did come with built in fogs in the headlamp but it was an option, so most don't have them. Not sure if it came stock on the GTIs or other models. I bought a headlight switch from ECS that has an option for fogs, but I haven't installed them yet because I have to pay around $80 for the wires. I could make my own harnes, but I would still need to buy some parts, so not really worth it. I believe ECS sells the wiring for fogs, but I forgot how much. I love the fitment of these lights, super awesome there were to issues though. It might be hard to tell but the shape is a little off on top. They are straight and the stock ones have a slight curve on top so you will see a slight gap. The other issue was the adjustment screws. I'm not sure if I broke them or I am doing it wrong, but they don't work. I should have contacted the seller on EBay right away and got new ones sent to me. Since it has already passed the warranty I haven't tried getting new ones. Let me know if you have more questions.

My R32 headlights wiring is all torn off and it keeps shorting out so I had to buy new headlights and these Spec D lights looked the best bang for the buck, plus I'm in a pinch because the car is at the shop right now. I hope the fitment is okay otherwise I may need to do another upgrade down the road. Thanks again for making that video it really helped, you're the only person I found to show an install video on YT on a MKIV Golf. Once I get them installed hopefully tomorrow I'll let you know how they look. I bought the entire kit from ECS, they said I needed the extra wiring harness in order to get the angel eyes to work, but apparently that's not true after watching your video.

@ yeah no problem but my lights are off eBay. They are not ecs lights. Their lights might require a separate wiring harness as they say. Send me a link to the lights you bought.

@ also the fitment will be fine because the r32 has the same body as the other golf’s. Only difference are the attachments like the spoilers.

I need to go back and look but you will have some extra wires for the fog lights. Unless your came with fog lights you will not have any wires for that. You have to buy a seperate wiring harness to connect the fog lights. You can do that later. I never did that but maybe in the future. The cheapest I saw the wires for was like $90 and I didn’t want dog light that bad.

just installed a set of these into a 02 GTI. the car had factory fogs, plug and play. Did you figure out what that harness with the little clip is for?

Not sure what which one your talking about but if it was extra it was prob for the fog lights that I don’t have on my car stock so I will have to go buy some OEM fogs to install on these light housings. I may do that in the future.

I purchase some just about the same but I have no No fog lights under my bumper so how do I wire it I have daytime running lights Or does it Wire are the same great video when I was young I did the same better test wire than cut crips if I mess up

I don’t have fog lights in my bumper either. You have to buy a separate wire and run it through the firewall into your interior and then connect it to the light switch. You need a light switch with a fog light option. It’s more money and parts. That’s why I haven’t done it yet 😆
