Interesting to see the laser set-up. Some of my earlier memory as a kid is of my grandfather sneaking me onto site on a Sunday to hold the extendable grade measuring stick thing for him while he was setting out foundations for residential house building. That was back in the 1980s before lasers and computer, just a theodolite with a telescope viewer on it to read the measurements with 😁

That is still used alot today. Its much easier to use depending on what kinda work your doing.

Been watching excavating videos for a while now. I find them very interesting. I was in the Army Engineers in 1958. I wanted to learn equipment operation but they needed a machinist. That was me. :O) I was excited to find your' video that explained, I'll call it gridding for lack of a better word. I figured you were using something like an altimeter with a laser because I know altimeters have been installed in wrist watches for quite a while. I had one years ago. I used to fly. I'm sure I would have enjoyed operating heavy equipment. Maybe not knee deep in mud. LOL Any way I'm not completely sure how you set it up but I will watch this a few more times to try to understand. Just for my own know how. I'm 86 and don't learn so easy. Thanks so much for the demo. I liked and subbed.

Outstanding. So X is in and out of the face of the laser transmitter, and u is left and right? Never saw that done before. Great way to set a grade...set flat to stale X then adjust slope, then mount receiver...with Dutch blade sitting in the bottom of the correct depth ditch. Just a few minutes set up for hours of precision work...nicely done. Thank you. Always a pleasure to be able to joine you playing in the mud.
