thanks very much-- has proven its worth as that counter and sink area is the hardest working part of a house and has stood up well--

Looks gorgeous. Is there a part 3? I want to know if you have a video on tiling around a undermount stainless sink. How to finish the edges

No sorry , I would be up for the challenge but i have not had the opportunity--

travertine or other natural stone is pretty easy to finish the edge, however if you use tile best to not use undermoutn sink IMHO

great job. any tips for using tile edging instead of wood? I am planning on just putting hardiboard 1.25" along the boarder and having top tile over hang about 1/4" inch so when thing edge tile is applie the edge will be under the top piece. also just found out I can get 30x30 tile at my local surply building supply place, will cut off 5" and use that as a back splash.

Hi, i have never done a tile edge but yes you could attach your cut pieces to the front edge with some 1/4" backer board/ thinset , then i would flush the counter tile with the nosing. One suggestion would be to have a "form" of some kind on the underside of the nosing to prevent any sagging-- simple 1X2 braced up off the floor.

@@mralexdenny great ideas, thanks so much! going to my surplus building supplier tomorrow and hope to get 30x30 in tiles for cheap.

@@rollandelliott OK, good luck with the project-- confirm the correct mortar for the job-- No- polymer modified if it is all cement board/ backer board to tile bonding--

Mitre the top tile45% and the edges leave about 1/16 inch edge where the tiles join screw timber supports under edges until glue dries. A lot more fiddly which is why you rarely see it done but worth as it appears solid.

Aren’t you supposed to butter the backs of those tiles?
@mralexdenny Жыл бұрын
Probably if you use an. 1/ 8th inch trowel, but I was using a 3/8 trowel-

can you explain how to prep the surface of a painted counter top?

Those spacers sucks. break them off, and they leave some plastic that you can't grout in

does the thickness of the tape throw off the edge match?
