I don't usually get all misty-eyed over planes. However, something about seeing this iconic 747 landing for the last time in the old-style British Airways livery did it. Sad that these will never be seen in the skies again as passenger-carrying aircraft. Although, I believe the big courier's companies like DHL will still fly them.

Can't help but think of all the man hours that went into it's designing, manufacturing & the amount of miles it's flown around the globe but yet a tiny microscopic virus is what brought it's legacy to an early retirement. What bizarre times we live in. Quite sad really.

True, but sadly the 747 days were numbered anyway. The virus just sped up their retirement. High fuel costs and consumers wanting cheaper and cheaper flights mean efficiency is the driving factor at the moment. Beautiful plane though.

Me too, I live under the approach path if they’re landing 27l/r and if they’re taking off 9r.
