I don't usually get all misty-eyed over planes. However, something about seeing this iconic 747 landing for the last time in the old-style British Airways livery did it. Sad that these will never be seen in the skies again as passenger-carrying aircraft. Although, I believe the big courier's companies like DHL will still fly them.

Why don't the globalists just be honest and say that aircrafts as big as 747s burn too much aviation fuel,instead of wreaking a world economy to force them into early retirement. 🤔

Can't help but think of all the man hours that went into it's designing, manufacturing & the amount of miles it's flown around the globe but yet a tiny microscopic virus is what brought it's legacy to an early retirement. What bizarre times we live in. Quite sad really.
@deanharrison923
@deanharrison923 4 жыл бұрын
True, but sadly the 747 days were numbered anyway. The virus just sped up their retirement. High fuel costs and consumers wanting cheaper and cheaper flights mean efficiency is the driving factor at the moment. Beautiful plane though.

Me too, I live under the approach path if they’re landing 27l/r and if they’re taking off 9r. I would always look up at any aircraft coming over, but I’d be transfixed whenever a 747 would come over the sky, some of my first flights were on a BA 74 and they just are magical. I’m desperately sad they are gone, going to have to search around for the last few to fly!

I flew on a BA 747 on my first trip to the USA in 1990. In those days you were still able to visit the cockpit (my Dad was an airline pilot) and I said to the Captain that my mum was flying out on an Airbus. "I feel much safer flying in one of these" he said. This wasn't long after the Kegworth disaster, hence neither he nor I were that keen on the idea of twin engined jets.

That was an impressively short landing! Such a shame she won’t be flying the friendly skies again. I had no idea that my last trip on a BA747 to LAX last year, would be my last. I’m so glad that BA swapped the aircraft out from the booked 787 now. Farewell to the Queen of the Skies!

The last BA 747 I flew on was the Negus livery G-CIVB. I'm going to miss those magnificent planes just as much as I miss Concorde.

The BA Queen of the sky had her last saying:”let me retire to my chamber one last time, so I can rest.” It was a great pleasure to fly on BA 747 aircraft, great memories. The same can be said BA concord.
