I totally can relate to this song after experiencing abuse from people on the streets just because I want to become a woman, it has gotten to the point where the abuse is starting to become physical now and I've had to call the police 3 times in the past 6 months because of being harassed or beaten by people in and around my area, luckily I have my friends who helps and support me the whole way

I am so sorry that you have to go through that. Nobody deserves to be abused because of who they are. Some people are just jerks and don't understand. Stay strong and I really hope things get better for you. (I wish we could just trade bodies because I'm closeted FtM.) Good luck for the future, and always stick with and hang out with those friends because friends who support you are very important. :)

all I can say to anyone suffering with transgendered issues it does get better in the end society is getting better I am in my late 50s and spent the last 30 years transitioned it's hard to be out sider's but you can still make a good life just believe in your self and don't give in to disrepair.

As a non trans person, my message to trans people is: do not be afraid to show others what you want to be, who you want to be, even if they call you a fag or deny your claims. Because there are still people who will accept you like other trans or very accepting people. Just take the time to find them because the world is big and you will eventually find someone who accepts you. Because I am one of those who can accept trans people despite not being one myself. Stay strong.

this song is kind of bittersweet i guess. it’s very uplifting as you put but it’s also coming from a place of raw emotion that’s really anthemic for lots of people with similar experiences to her

plus i also think that just happy songs won’t piss them off anymore than songs about struggle and perseverance as a trans person. i think music that recognizes trauma and the dark side of things is very empowering at least politically
