This one actually made me teary, most of my cis friends don't realize how much every single time they use my pronouns interchangeably it gives me a boost of reassurance. Being a femme nb person I'm always in my head, because even though I am comfortable with how I express my gender, there's always that "oh no I am too femme people will never see me for who I am, outside of internet. I am not trans enough." Seeing Duncan using Chris's pronouns was just heart warming, it is incredibly validating

I love that. I hate how people who use multiple pronouns almost solely get called the one closest to their assigned sex. And if they use they/them pronouns even people who try to be supportive will avoid using “they” at all costs and end up using their name an unnatural amount of times. Like “Demi went to this store and Demi said this about this cookie and people got really mad at Demi for what Demi said” it’s infuriating

Hey trans-umbrella fan here and thanks so much for making this video, we really really do need ACTIVE allies right now, not people who will say privately "yeah trans people are fine by me :)" but then sit by and say nothing as their friends take a doodoo on the evil trans movement bc they don't want to "start something" by speaking up. I'm glad MrBeast is doing this even if it is the bare minimum- a step in the right direction is a step even if its a small one!

It's called homosexuality. It is a minority group with a radical movement inside that wants equal right for what exactly? Now "they" have created many many more minority groups because breaking a small group of individuals into smaller groups makes sense... It's such a lost and crazy movement I can't help but think thats the main point. This whole issue is ridiculous because for the most part it was accepted, especially behind closed doors. Now this insane demand of representation for littler sexual preferences under "homosexuality". The first 5 letters in the movement literally are the same thing with fetishes attached. So confused it's sad. Could be something else causing the anxiety. Diet, drugs most likely. It is now confirmed some of the waters in the US have chemicals in them that can alter the sexual biology of frogs. That doesn't mean do it. It means study the effects! The huge issue I have with it all is the whitewashing of culture. Same with the race cards people play. Create new content and let people form an opinion on that. None of these things have been studied and with birth and fertility rates going down. Pushing "trans" on kids when they are confused enough, most growing out of said confusion, is a disaster waiting to happen. Why are we so eager to experiment on people when we know there are side effects including high suicide rates, infertility as well as other medical illnesses. Go dress as a drag and all the other sexual perversions. Keep it away from kids and jamming down the world's throat. Straightness is the dominance because we need to fucking replenish people to keep this going. The people running the show are laughing at you, not supporting you. Keep shortening your lifespans but keep it to yourselves. Inverting oppression just makes your cause more tran-sparent to us.

Hey, I’m ftm transgender and used to have a completely opposite mindset to what I believe now. I thought that gender affirming care was super dangerous, and it ruined people and I thought that it was an overly irrational decision. Now that I’ve realized that I’m a man, I know that there is nothing in my life that I wouldn’t trade for being a biological man, and surgery is the next best thing. I have no doubts that Chris had a similar experience to me, and I’m sure she agrees that it’s much more simple than what people are taking it as. He’d said some awful things in the past, but that was in the past. I do not want myself now to be associated with who I was before whatsoever, anyone who used to believe what I or any other transphobe might believe probably thinks the same. Chris is trans, and their experience shouldn’t be invalidated because of something that doesn’t define them anymore. (This is assuming a lot, but I just know someone is gonna say Chris is faking it)
@KalinTheZola
@KalinTheZola Жыл бұрын
Yeah, a lot of outsiders of the trans experience don't always realize just how common our stories end up being (similar and ftm as well, hi!) and that this ends up being a pretty common path for trans people who came out later in life. I ended up getting dangerously close to alt right adjacent spaces and while a great deal of that is my own doing and I fully accept my past and terrible beliefs I once held, there's definitely a commonality of trans people who either denied themselves or were never given a chance to freely explore their identity and thus repress it. Having to do that really messes you up and it resulted in me lashing out at people I secretly saw myself in. Now, I'm out, older, more educated on the world and how people are led down those kind of paths and I'm doing what I can to talk to and guide others away from those bad spaces.

I think "all pronouns" is different from "any pronouns". In my experience, tons of people who use any pronouns actually legitimately do not care. (Like that one actor from The Last of Us). Any pronouns: chill, open, fluid All pronouns: egocentric, selfish, demanding One says “I’m comfortable enough with myself & my (gender) identity that I’m cool with whatever pronoun(s) comes naturally to you.” The other says “I’m both insecure and expect others to validate me in ways I won’t do for myself-so you need to make a concerted effort to not only remember which specific pronouns currently work for me, but also to keep a mental tally of how often you’ve used each of them, so as to not upset my fragile self concept by overusing one over the others.” Who does that to their friends & loved ones?? (They’re not bad people: they’re just struggling internally and don’t have a healthy concept of boundaries or matured emotional intelligence. They deserve compassion, and in trying to support them, too many well meaning people end up enabling self defeating behavior. It’s more lovingly supportive to gently ask them if (& why) they think it’s reasonable to expect others to put that much effort into juggling their pronouns...and what it is they’re really seeking, so they might get emotional needs met more effectively. 💛)

Concerning him saying transphobia surrounding Chris is starting to piss him off: We don't actually know much about Jimmy. He has always been pretty good at keeping the focus on his online persona and his personal beliefs private. I really couldn't tell you what his stance on trans issues might have been before Chris transitioning and there have been accusations in the past that Jimmy can be a very different person once the cameras are switched off. Which in itself wouldn't be an issue, but the accusations were that he bullied several of his ex-employees - which doesn't excatly fit his nice guy brand. There's generally a lot of good will around the online persona of MrBeast, but what does Jimmy actually believe in? That being said, because we don't know much about Jimmy, we also don't know what he might do with his personal money. Even after all I've said - maybe he has already been donating to LGBTTIQA+ movements for years and just never spoken about it? We expect him to do everything in public, because that's the MrBeast brand, but maybe that's an unfair expectation?
@monhi64
@monhi64 Жыл бұрын
I know those bullying accusations you’re speaking off and I did believe them for awhile but I ended up with a reasonable doubt to their validity. As far as I remember there wasn’t any evidence it was true. But I can give you a major curveball right after Chris transitioned, people dug up an old deleted Mr. Beast video in which they specifically mocks anyone With non traditional genders. It was definitely real but the craziest part was that it was Chris specifically mocking gender. Maybe he was just insecure about himself especially being in the south and he was super young but still not cool. As for Mr. Beast I think he might just be boring in general and not feel that strongly about any of that stuff. He’s definitely private as hell though, what is the real Mr beast like?? It’s a secret

We can pretty much say the bullying accusations were debunked, the guy who raised those issues was a former editor who thought when he signed on he’d get to appear in videos, take part in challenges and become friends with the gang, however he obviously wasn’t brought on to be paid to be his friend. And only 1 editor has ever really been in videoed and that was his first one who was his actual real life friend. The bullying was debunked by other editors and members of the crew who all said he’s really nice off camera and that the guy didn’t fully understand that he was going into a working environment far bigger than other KZbinrs he worked for

But... maybe you're right, there needs to be follow through even more than words. Maybe my standards are just too low. But honestly, I was just pleasantly surprised and happy that Mr Beast supported Chris publically and even defended them. Because... we don't even get that a lot of times, you know? As a side note, I greatly appreciate you using all of Chris' pronouns during this video, instead of just defaulting to one. A detail I noticed but I appreciate it. Back when I was using multiple pronouns I felt like everyone outside of my friend group would use she/her just because of how I presented and after a while it made me really dysphoric because it felt like they were subconsciously still seeing me as a girl. Which is why I changed my pronouns to they/them in the end, because people weren't actually using all pronouns on me, just she/her and that made me upset. @@COhlen I mean, as you've said, alcohol is not illegal, cigarettes are not either (passive smoking is no fun and can severely damage your respiratory system), so saying that the hurtful drugs are already illegal is a bit of a contradiction. But, as Ero has pointed out, I was quite more apalled by the comparison between transitioning and crack addiction - that was where I was coming from. Anyways, I agree that the war on drugs is far-fetched and that we should be focusing more on the drugs that are considered "normal" in our society (such as alcohol or tobacco) even though they are clearly harmful to others!

when it comes to the resurfacing of old bad/insensitive comments, the context of why they're being brought up is really vital. They're not being brought up out of concern by & for marginalized groups, they were brought up because people went out of their way to find any ammo they could to hurt the credibility of a high profile trans person. It's not like they came up out of nowhere, the timing of these old insensitive tweets makes it preeeetttyyy clear that it was done in reaction to Chris coming out. I can't see holding that against someone when it's the direct result of an intentional smear campaign with transphobic motivation behind it

I have my issues with Mr Beast and his content, but at a time when more and more states are trying to push through laws that would make living as an open trans person dangerous, if not illegal, having someone with an audience like him defending us is a lifeline that I can't ignore. I personally don't think it's enough, and I don't think it completely dismisses the other harm he's done, but at this point, I'll take what scraps I can get. If he, and more importantly Chris, can show transness to the next generation in a positive and accepting light, it's going to have a net positive. I can't really speak to Chris' old tweets, at least not the ones that don't involve the minorities I'm a member of, but I was a pretty shit person when I was younger, and it took a lot of effort to change those behaviours and grow. If it's genuine, and she truly feels differently and understands why it was wrong, that certainly doesn't erase it, but they're at least not doing further harm. It's a tangled web of intersectional problems, but at the core of people being shit to him for being trans, that's never okay. Even if Chris was the most vile person in the world, her gender is not part of that, and no one should use that as a weapon to add to the issue.
@tabitha7770
@tabitha7770 Жыл бұрын
the moral of the video stands even with the old tweets Chris posted. Her saying bad things in the past does not make them less valid as a trans person and doesnt make the transphobia brought against them more valid. People say and do bad things regardless of if they are trans, cis, nobinary, agender, genderfluid, it literally doesnt matter. Respecting people pronouns is about respecting trans people as a whole, that doesnt mean you have to like or even respect the person for who they are.

As a trans person im so thankful for this video, lately being trans is horrifying. Knowing that people genuinely want me dead just because of such a simple thing is scary! Twitter especially right now is really scary to go on and even though I almost never go on it it is really hard to avoid transphobia especially when it's so damn popular currently, when I saw the hate Chris got it was really disheartening and he's so brave for having to deal with that! Its also really inspiring to see her transition so publicly! I am having my first appointment to discuss medial transition in June and it does make me feel a lot less alone and scared seeing other trans people being so strong in the face of adversity, and makes me not feel so doomed. To any fellow trans person reading this, you matter and you are valid!! Hell yeah!!

Allyship is so important to me right now as a transperson. We have no way to defend ourselves against what is going on in America (and the rest of the world really) with the legislature without the support of people who are cis. I am terrified right now. I am so scared I will be forced to detransition after almost 10 years of HRT. My state has already criminalized gender affirming care for youth and as someone who started HRT at 14, it genuinely saved my life and I would not be here today without such critical care. My anger has been intense and I have been rattling the bars of my cage trying to get people to do something more than words. My community is facing targeted attempts to kill us and make us disappear, I don't understand how people don't see it. None of these law makers are hiding it and the fact that they can just get away with it absolutely destroys me. We are the scape goat and people don't realize that if they succeed in killing us off, that they will just move to the next target and kill off others until eventually those who thought they were safe finally realize that they never were. I hope it gets better, but right now I can't say I don't have emergency bags packed and a plan to flee the state if things get worse. I just hope to god that Democrats hold down the presidency because if not, no where will be safe.

I feel like on the note of “starting to piss me off” it’s the kind of things where mr. beast is kind of oblivious to many of the big issues and i think the reason he said that it’s “starting” is because he didn’t even realize how much transphobia there was and so it didn’t bother him before because he thought it was a small minority

In relation to the bad tweets, I think its important to remember that while trans people are marginalized, they can still be bigoted in other ways. Being trans, or part of any oppressed group, doesn't make you perfect. I do think people can change and grow, so I'm not trying to say that Chris is a terrible person, just that they had some internal prejudices that they need to overcome and atone for. I've seen people in my own life and online who are trans and assume that they couldn't be racist because they know what it's like to be oppressed, but that's just not true. But being racist (While bad) doesn't take away from her rights as a trans person. Being trans is not a privilege that you earn for being a good person, they're two different things. A trans person can be a total jerk, but should still have their pronouns respected because then it's not trans rights, it's a trans privilege that anyone could take away because they feel like it. Idk, this is a little disjointed from the video, but its a point I care about

Thank you so much for making this video - I love your call to action. This situation, and all the publicity surrounding it, has really opened a dialogue, and you couldn't be more true about some people only forming opinions based off an initial exposure. For example, I work with young people, and to my surprise, one of my students had seen only the SunnyV2 video. It so profoundly set his worldview on this topic that we had a challenging discussion going through each of Sunny's points and debunking them, and confronting the fear and hate those sorts of videos spread. It was both sad to hear my student speak like that, but I was also grateful that I was there to be a visible and strong ally and speak up for my beautiful trans and enby friends and family. Visible and outspoken allyship for the win!

It feels like a lot people putting focus on "starting" are just being unnecessarily pedantic because " ____ is starting to piss me off" is such a common phrase to let ppl know you're angry or annoyed about something that it doesn't even need to precisely mean " I am just NOW getting annoyed/angry about this". I know for a fact that I personally say something is starting to piss me off about topics, people, or things that I've already been angry or annoyed about/at for a while now but the phrase just slips out because there are only so many words/ways to voice your anger or grievances that you'll just end up repeating some of them.

I know this by the way i was addressed with my dead pronouns and how i was made to feel crazy for being upset at that. I had been on hrt for 18 months and passing for a year and still getting the wrong pronouns. my middle manager did nothing when i reported it and would just send me articles about an anti trans bill that was blocked, or a trans activism puff piece. it made me want to die.
