Not all Pakistanis my brother. Only Pashtuns have this level of hospitality and seems like it is in their blood and genes. If this gentleman goes to Lahore, he'll be scammed and charged extra for everything let alone offered free food. And if he goes to Karachi, he'll most certainly be robbed of his cell phone and wallet.

Peshawar is the land of brave Pashtuns for whom hospitality is part of culture and way of life. They are different in many ways from people in other parts of Pakistan. No matter how poor they are, they will always offer you the best of what they have and will protect their guest at the cost of their life. Almost everyone whether rich or poor, will have a room dedicated for guests at their house, which they call 'Hujra'. These people share the same language and culture with millions of Pashtuns who live on the other side of the border in Afghanistan. People in other parts of Pakistan (Punjab etc.) are not like this especially in cities like Lahore and Karachi where they'll always be trying to scam you.

Actually, your experience may not be the same across Pakistan. In cities like Lahore, Karachi, etc. you'll find many people who'll always be trying to scam you and take advantage of you. Peshawar and the province of Pashtunkhwa in general, is different in many ways from the rest of Pakistan. For Pashtuns who live there, hospitality is an essential part of their culture and way of life. Pashtuns here share the same culture and language with Pashtuns on the other side of border in Afghanistan. Even the food you ate and tasted (Kabob and Qabli Palaw) are originated in Afghanistan and central Asia.
