You make the mini split install very approachable. I'll definitely be adding one in my workshop/shed build in a few months

I did one a few months back and idk why people don't try to do the electrical themselves. I have no background in electrical and found that to be extremely easy

This was a sad episode. I really enjoyed that everything you did is something anyone could do in their garage, but now that you are moving to a bigger separate workshop, it feels more "distant" in a way from a regular guy with a garage shop. Congrats though! Amazing that you can afford to rent a professional shop now. Still excited to see what you build next.

If you want to save your concrete I would use stall mats versus the interlocking gym mats. Love your channel btw! Helped with many of my new house projects!

I agree, the concrete will be busted. Need horse stall mats from tractor supply. Typically you want 3/4" to 1" thick mats to protect concrete. Great video!!!

One thing I learned with my DIY mini split. Even though it is set to work out of the box, getting it tuned will help with efficiency.

Great job! I’m an HVAC engineer and recommend using a waterproof whip to connect from your disconnect to the condenser. Plus use spray foam where you core your hole in the wall.

Love this book! kzbin.infoUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!

Those foam mats go bad easily! Look for some horse stall mats or rubber floor mats. Especially if you deadlift

Sad to see the shop go. I have a home gym myself. I would suggest for flooring, do horse stall mats 3/4in thick rubber flooring. Those mats look like the ones that will compress over time and could be bad for footing when balancing decent load of weight.

Just a couple things about the Mini split install from a professional HVACR tech. Cut the wall sleeve flush with the exterior wall before running and bending your pipes through so you're not causing a sharp 90 degree shelf to bend around. Agree you should use soapy water to check for leaks, but that style you used where the soap is foamy wont work. Get a small cup of dish soap and just use your finger to run it around the lip of the flared connections. Set the condensing unit on top of a concrete pad or pressure treated 4x4 so you don't have issues with the condensate water freezing into the unit during winter. The indoor unit placement could have been better, but work with what you have. Try to keep the top of the unit at least 6" from the ceiling to allow proper air flow and try to mount it on a wall where it blows towards the largest side of the room.

Why not put the mini split on the other side of the door so you wouldn’t have to walk around it to get to the door from outside?

Awesome build I love how the green turned out! I needed to also say it looked like you used MC cable from the disconnect to the unit and from my understanding it is not weather rated. It only protects against physical damage. I’m not sure your state codes however in New Jersey this would fail. Instead use liquid tight flexible conduit with water proof connections and pull THWN Inside. Thanks for the great content !

I'm not much of a gym person, but i do know that these space require lots of fresh air intake, in which here you only installed one HVAC unit. There should be atleast another one or two exhaust fan to extract out the moisture from the sweat and yes probably "tears" (coming from a place that you have create an empire before). Plus the environment is kinda screaming SBS "sick building syndrome" of how you use the color scheme, the flooring materials, the placement of equipment, etc. But hey, this is coming out of love and respect, and thumbs up for creating this content that would allow us to create such spaces in our garages.....well, probably never i guess haha

I've been told by my HVAC guy that it's bad to have the line set to a mini split coiled like that. Oil can pool in the bottom of the loops and cause issues. Might be worth verifying with Mr. Cool to see if it's an issue with their gear.

It looks nice, maybe a little cramped but if you're ok with it then thats all the matters. Also, Im not sure how often you plan on using the side door for the garage because of the the AC unit you installed outside of it but if anyone does use it for whatever reason, I can see them running into that ledge/shelf you installed and hurting themselves. Maybe cut that end at an outward angle or something so when whoever is coming in through the door doesn't get a 90 degree corner to the gut.

The best paint color to project on is Behr Silver Screen. It's gray, but it will enhance the projected image and improve the contrast.

You have all that you really need, but you have a small gym. I suggest adding a stand-alone Squat Max MD, so you can do belt squats, which is much safer than back squats and front squats. You should also get a Lat Machine or a Functional Trainer for curls, triceps extensionsand lat pulldowns. You can already do pullups on your power rack, but you still need a dip attachment or a self standing dip station. A 4-wheel push-pull sled would be good too.

Those doors typically have an R14 insulation value. They make draft stops for the sides that you can install from the front of the opening. If you want to go a step further they make insulation boards that fit over the door panels.

Holy crap dude! Why didn't you rent a truck with a liftgate?? I know it's cheaper to use what you already own, but the amount of work (and damage to wheels/ potential damage to tools) going up the open trailer ramp and then transporting it? Way too much effort and energy for old guys like me... Also, why did you place the inside unit of split system so close to the garage door? Potential for air loss/ thermostat reading getting interference from the outside air?

I think it would have been easier for your wife to go to the gym than you move out. That makes more sense. This was probably planned but if it isn't, than it's selfish to expect you to move out considering it's your work space and you used it to improve your home, which you all benefited from. In saying that, on to bigger and better things...
