That's me on guitar. I toured with Kim for her first record and did all the pre-production for Bitter Sweet but had to leave the band before that record was recorded. Kim was wonderful to work with and Kenny did a really nice job on the record.. It was kinda strange but very cool to hear so many of my parts interpreted by such a classy player.
@Rick-zl3zp4 жыл бұрын
Adam, I think it's a real compliment to your playing that a player of Kenny's talent and taste played your parts straight up. That means that they were right to begin with. The only real differences I hear are single coil vs Gretsch. Nice work, Sir!

I actually blew up a pair of Infinity SM150s cranking this song. Kim's vocals and the bell like guitar, oh... and the Phase Linear 400 were just too much for them.

Fell in LOVE with Kim Richey, from day one. Saw her many times in Nashville in the 90's. Took her to breakfast when she was out West being produced by Bill Bottrell in the 2000's. She should have been a BIG star, and this song should have been a HUGE hit. Kim Richey's got it ALL. Great songwriter and great taste in music. Thanks, Kim!

How can this video have 22K views but only 111 likes? WTF? I am not even a country fan but I remember this song from the late 90's. Surprisingly my German born hubby loves country music and I remember watching one of the country music award shows and I think I vaguely remember this song being nominated for some award. Like I said, I am not a country music fan but damn the 90's had some great country music especially women like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ms. Ritchey, etc. I am showing my age, I miss the 90's.

I left you with nothing but a few tears in my eyes Now I'm halfway down the interstate past Highway 99 It's just me and one good wiper blade up against the rain And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said That could drive a million miles and never drive them from my head Those words we said No matter how I try, I can't get far enough away Every sad song on my radio sounds like it's custom made By some devil on my shoulder that keeps whispering in my ear And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said That could drive a million miles and never drive them from my head Those words that wounded like an arrow to the heart And keep me drivin', drivin'........ Kim Richey is a great singer and songwriter and it makes no sense why she didn't become a bigger success but she's is a success and the world is a better place with her music in it.....

If you're not a member of The Family you don't get promoted. And without promotion you don't become big. Taylor Swift and Bob Dylan are both members of The Family. Google Miles Mathis essay on Bob Dylan if you want to know more. BTW The Beatles and Stones are members of The Family too...

Richey is such an enigma as an artist. An amazing songwriter, voice of an angel, and in the day, had "the look". Makes one wonder what the hell was going on in Nashville and why she was relegated to second tier status. To her credit, she performed at least twice I know of at the CMA awards, backing artists doing HER songs. There are three artists I think were way underappreciated by the establishment in "the day", Richey, The Mavericks, and Matraca Berg. I wonder how big they could have been...
