That little apple toss is a reference to the 1976 miniseries I, Claudius; specifically to John Hurt’s performance of Caligula, who does the exact same thing in the episode where he is introduced as a character. Takes a bite of an apple and tosses it over his shoulder.

I think I have the answer to this video.. the little girl and Almond are brother and sister. The father (Ball/Cricket Player) separates from his wife (1900 english rich woman), within a disscution (scratch in his face) because she cheated with the Servant guy. Almond hates his mixed race sister because she broken the family, at the point he dont went out with her sister to see 'their father' play cricket.

The 80s introductions into music videos...an exciting, experimental journey...it was so hard to record videos then, I mean, it was really expensive.
@RocStarr9132 жыл бұрын
This was particularly experimental. Soft Cell made this as part of a whole “video album” that was released on home video formats, one of the first of its kind.

Tainted Love is a song composed by Ed Cobb from The Four Preps. It was first performed in 1964 by Gloria Jones, then by Ruth Swan in 1975. The popularity comes with the cover of Soft Cell in 1981 on the Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret album. The single will rank first on the British charts and eighth on the Billboard Hot 100. The new wave group Soft Cell became aware of the song as a hit northern soul in the UK and recorded a version with totally different arrangements in 1981. Produced by Mike Thorne, the song by Soft Cell has a more tempo slow as the version of Gloria Jones and is in G major to match the voice of Marc Almond. Synthesizers and rhythm machines replace the original guitar and bass. The Soft Cell version was saved in a day and a half. The final version was produced with the first vocal take by Marc Almond. A clip was made especially for the Soft Cell Non Stop Exotic Video video album. He stages the members of the group Marc Almond and David Ball in togas at Mont Olympe.

How did I never see this video. This is most favorite song ever
@RocStarr91310 ай бұрын
It’s because it was filmed as part of a “video album” called Soft Cell's Non-Stop Exotic Video Show that was released on home video formats. This likely never aired on television.

This wasn't their song. It was an obscure R & B Song by a singer named Gloria Jones that epitomized Northern Soul. It got it's name from the Black Section of Philly. It was all but forgotten in the 1960's because of Motown & Stax but in England it gained cult status who lived in Council Houses ie Low Income Housing. It was in the Billboard Hot 100 longer than any song in Music History. Rihanna later sampled the song for SOS.
