Thank you Mr. Carlson for your amazing in depth repair and restoration videos on equipment that some may find obsolete ,, I was at the "tail" end graduated Bklyn. Tech High School graduated in 1978, ,, when soon after that they NO longer had electrical or electronic PRE Engineering teaching of vacuum tubes theory and design !,, I feel still is imperative to at least have a knowledge of this alone ! to be fluent in just theory and open mind ,,this is how it all started ,, something about a tube amplifier ,, so warm and knowing your restored one yourself even if the specs are not cutting edge , I remember the feeling of when you saw the glow those hearters and the sound coming out of the speaker that you repaired it the right way like you demonstrate in such awesome detail ,,!

A good friend of mine recently passed away. He owned a repair shop just like yours. For 50 years he specialized in the repair of vintage radios and TVs as well as modern guitar amps, ham equipment, and various other devices. Remaining in the shop are THOUSANDS of tubes (6000?), the majority of which are new old stock from the 1930s to the 1960s. If you are interested in purchasing any of these or any high quality test gear let me know and I will put you in contact with the family.

You have so much great gear. I don't know if you use a large Lazy Susan for heavy repairs, but I've found one to be almost essential for work on heavy gear like old HP spectrum analyzers. I decided what diameter would be best then cut the plate out of 3/4" plywood, and added a wedge brake. I use it all the time now, even on items that aren't particularly heavy so it doesn't disturb the gear as I work on it.

Love ya, but I think ya got a touch of OCD going on there! LOL. At some point, I'd like to converse a bit over the HQ-120 receiver a couple times as, I am about ready to start restoring one myself. I've watched your video on this receiver SEVERAL (like 10+) times and am delighted with all the info you give us, I mean, my God, who could ask for more, right? I still however, have questions. Before I had seen your video on the restoration of this receiver, I had already made a purchase of all the caps to replace all the electrolytic and waxies. At the time of this, I also decided to simply replace the all the resistors and even the cloth wiring (as much as possible) as well. As you could tell there were several orders placed to different vendors for there different items. Thanks! Nemo-

For some reason, every time I see one of these views of all this equipment, I recall the scenes from the Christmas Vacation movie where "Clark Griswold's" massive number of Christmas lights turn on, the power grid drops, and they cut to a control panel at the power company where somebody throws the switch "AUXILLIARY NUCLEAR". (Fun fact: That is how they spelled it in the movie instead of the correct "auxilliary".)
