Speaking as a beginner, just starting my second year tying I really appreciate you guys for sharing these types of videos because they can be a real confidence builder for people like myself who are new to tying. I also can't wait to try them out after all isn't that why we tie flies is to hopefully catch fish with them right....

Great video. I would love to tie some of these. It appears all the pearl crinkle hair is out of stock on the website. What is a similar product I could use?

Great content. I've subscribed. What vice would you recommend for a beginner?

Wow, that is beautiful! Thank you for a great tutorial. The juvenile GT's would kill that here in Hawaii.( even the big boys) We use flies with resin head mostly, flies.last a bit longer. Is there a recommended way to do this? I'm A new tyer, how do I get over the feeling of wasting material? A lot of tutorials show snip, snip, SNIP....I try to be frugal (cheap) 😂 I think I ruin a lot of flies by doin this.

Hi, Thanks for the kind comments and glad you enjoyed the Tutorial. Try using a flexible UV resin as opposed to a standard hard resin on the heads of your flies, just stroke a small amount into the fibre and set with the torch. It should make them pretty durable. I understand what you mean about wastage, especially for new tiers. This is all part of the learning curve, but try to consider the best way of tying the material in to minimise the wastage without having to trim too much off. Any trimmings can be saved and used as dubbing if blended together with other materials as well as being utilised in dubbing brushes...something to think about :)

@@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing Thank you for the quick response, I will try those suggestions. Thank you!!

Question- if I end the fly with space behind the hook eye, would a resin head work, or even look good?
@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing2 жыл бұрын
No reason why it shouldn't on both counts, what it looks like is immaterial as long as the fish like it ;)
