I've watched so many videos and read what I can find in trying to decide on the best e-bike for me. The GC 2.2 is easily my favorite, with all things considered (cost, torque, top speed, suspension, eye-appeal). The one issue that I have is that I'm 6'3", with a 34" inseam and feel like the GC 2.2 will be too small for me. Shortening the crank arms seems like a stop-gap remedy in my opinion. It seems like you guys could add some spacers under the seat to accommodate your taller customers. I do want to get some exercise when riding and intend to do a considerable amount of pedaling. Pedaling this bike with my long legs appears to be a pointless endeavor. Thank you GhostCat for listening to your customers and potential customers.

on ebikes that arent really meant to be ridden as predominantly pedal assist, i have found that a rear derailleur and multiple gears in the back just add weight, complication, and cost that will almost never be used. perhaps just a single rear 11 tooth cog allows for dropping some weight, handlebar space (no need for a shifter), and the few dollars saved could be spent upgrading one of the other useful components (e.g. headlights) to a higher grade.
@Gkcmg119 ай бұрын
They really don't add that much weight though

Good points - perhaps GhostCat could produce 2 versions of this bike - then they (or aftermarket) could provide upgrade options for the less pedal assist bike - power, range, suspension, brakes etc. I like the platform.

Looks good and the suspension seems to be top notch. Maybe they can copy it but make another model larger and fit a 60V battery with a 50 amp controller. Get it to cruise at 43-45mph . Looking at height... 24 inch wheels might help.
@MrCentralDriver9 ай бұрын
Might as well have a whole new model if u go 60v. This thing has good power as is
@JohnBowl146909 ай бұрын
Bascially at 60V, it's usually a motorcycle, just like a SurRon is. Now that said, I could be wrong, but....I see the future of ebikes going towards more torque and 32 mph or under. 28 mph is legal and there are too many brands out there right now pushing the limit. But once the cops start enforcing the laws and impounding bikes, I think there could be a rush to get legal. In my neighborhood, it's becoming infested with SurRons. Many kids doing wheelies on the main drag. That will end in the next 2 years I predict. Again, maybe I'm totally wrong, but new laws coming down the pipeline. Those bikes, scooters, etc that are way over the limit, will be cited or impounded. For me, I hope they start making more lightweight scooters like the Roadrunner Pro. It look non-threatening with the small 14" wheel. Something I can fit in my trunk.
@Psyniigianni9 ай бұрын
I agree with you. If anything can be done is at least a larger battery or a design to run 2 batteries in parallel. They could redesign to run 2 batteries mirroring each other. One in it current configuration and the other upside down, or run and bar on a diagonal which you could add another battery on top of it and if you run a single battery the other side could be used for storage. Hitting that 40 mph and a little over is right at the sweet spot. This bike has so much potential. This could literally be the best bike on the market with a few adjustments. One thing for sure is that no matter who it is, the one thing people want their bikes to have is range. That is pretty much a must have. They should look into battery sag as well. I know there will be some but that can be fixed so it isn’t as bad. This where the second battery with a battery blender would help.

I bet that kickstand is adjustable but that brings me to my question of why every kickstand puts the screw on the inside of the kickstand making it hard to even see, nevermind adjusting it. Why isnt the screw on the outside of the kickstand? I had my bike for a month before I even realized it was adjustable
@MrCentralDriver9 ай бұрын
the kickstand is adjustable. 90% of them are. You are only going to adjust the kickstand once to your preference and leave it. the screw hidden in the back is best, would look ugly on the outside. The Ghostcat kickstand is adjusted as long as it will go. if i move it any longer down, when you fold it up to go ride, it will rub on the rear 203mm brake rotor. I mentioned this in my full video review
@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE9 ай бұрын
If they put on shorter cranks they can offset it with better gearing. A torque sensor would be good too. Shorter cranks but like a 54 tooth chainring and one of Shimano's freewheels with the wider range of gears.
@ixclusiverc9 ай бұрын
Because of its design the largest you can upgrade to is 48t. I have 152 cranks and definitely makes it better but still not great 120- 140mm would be better.
@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE9 ай бұрын
@@ixclusiverc Honestly looking at that bike it would have been better with a 24" wheel base, a taller set of BMX style bars and a seat that's about 4" higher. The wheel base is kind of doable, they would just have to change out the front fork, rear swing arm and get longer travel suspension for the rear. Then they could keep the longer cranks and should have more clearance for a bigger chainring.
@jimjr91439 ай бұрын
@@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFEyep, i posted this as well in response to shorter cranks . All that will result in is faster ghost peddling . (He mentions in this video the same point i made earlier about the faster ghost pedaling) ….. The seat is simply to low . If the chainring is smaller then 52 tooth , and the freewheel larger then 11 tooth you will not be able to pedal above approx 15mph . You will just ghost pedal , making shorter or longer cranks irrelevant . The (seat height) is the sole issue .
@The4wakenedXchange9 ай бұрын
First off, amazing job to @ghostcatbikes for listening to the consumer and making a great bike but also making adjustments. From someone who has a surron and had it stolen... I'd say that a bike that powerful isn't that necessary, I rarely would use it at full speed. The ghost cat seems like a perfect balance between cruising and off-roading. Addressing the pedal issue for larger riders like myself, I would suggest implementing the ability to heighten the seat. With my Surron, I simply got a seat extender and it worked great, I'd rather see something like that then shorter pedal cranks. For someone who is looking to get a bit of cardio when he feels like it, a comfortable pedaling is rather important. Anyways, appreciate the content central, peace n love 🫡
@GHOSTCATBIKES8 ай бұрын
Thank you for the positive feedback and we are listening to consumers. We love your suggestion regarding a seat extender and will evaluate if it's possible to increase the thickness of the seat to increase the seat height for taller riders. We might be able to offer this type of seat as an aftermarket option.
@sooperfy5 ай бұрын
you cant heighten the seat on these types of moped style ebikes. youd then have to revert to going to using a bicycle seat on a moped style ebike. just looks dumb. What they did do however is make a alternate seat you can buy that raises the seat height by 2" to 35" from 33". If you're looking for cardio and a bike that has better pas features you should look into a different style bike. These bikes while they have pas are really meant for throttle only enthusiasts with a little pas feature. Hopefully doesnt come off too blunt or like a dick but i mean sounds like you want a bike that has more of a pas feature than a throttle only. bikes that go this fast or have this much torque will get ghost pedaling almost instantly basically if youre going 20-30 mph.
@johnrobles54638 ай бұрын
I really like this bike and really want to get one. The suspension, lightweight frame, and of course the torque all looks great! But I would really like to see a different speedometer on the bike than the M5. I'm sure it does the job fine but it just seems cheap. And most bikes in the same price range all seem more quality looking speedometers. That's really my only gripe with the bike, and I would gladly pay more for a completely different system.

So you have to remember that this is still a bicycle because of the crank and if you're putting the bike somewhere where it will obstruct the movement of the kickstand then always make sure it's in the upward position and if you're parking it make sure you put it that way or make or build a kickstand that mounts to the spindle

@johnrob32158 ай бұрын
@brentcollins9727 Anyone who has an ebike knows range is dependent on many factors including mix of PAS and throttle, payload, terrain, motor size, etc. My rule of thumb is 2 miles per batt amp hour. That's considering a mix of 1/3 2/3 PA/throttle, 185lbs, 750w, mostly flat with some gentle rolling hills. Also, people don't run the batt down to 0, figure stopping at 20%. Using this relatively generous application and the outbound range distance on that 1500/20ah is probably less than 10 miles...you still have to drive home.
