For people outside the US, in bad areas people will steal the renewal sticker (we have to renew our plates/tags every year) off your license plate. They can just take yours and not have to buy one of their own. If you slice it and they try to peel, it will come off in bits.

If you put clear tape over it, use a heat gun you can peel it all off in 1 go with them all attached together regardless how deep the cuts are. @@balkanjoker8754 yeah so in California every year we have to pay registration fees on my truck it's $298 every year and since my truck is an older model California law requires me to get a smog check every year an additional $40 . But sometimes cars can't pass smog so they have to either pay someone to pass it illegally or they just steal some one's sticker to get them by. But if the cops pull them over for any reason and they run the registration they can get into some serious trouble but that's only if u get stopped other than that if they see u have a current sticker they don't stop you unless u disobey the traffic laws.

Used to be ⛽ thieves were "NICE" enough to siphon my tank with a hose and leave the gas door open so you knew needed to fill up. Gall a few minutes drive away from my place said her neighbor was visiting with her one evening while siphoning gas out of HER CAR in front of her house. He said the work truck the other neighbor drives is about empty. Not always. If someone steals your tag just show the cops your paperwork you got with the tag. They should be very lenient towards you. Just say someone must've stole the damn thing. The best way for it to never come off is to take some sand paper, lightly sand the spot where you're going to put it, get some good quality super glue(for outdoor and metal), put a few dabs of glue down where you roughed the surface, put the sticker down, and boom. You can even cut on top if you want but that tag isn't coming off easily
