CULTURE CLUB Live in Paris 1982 FULL CONCERT

This was recorded in Paris, 1982. It was Culture Club's first visit to that country, as evidenced by George greeting Paris, apologizing for not speaking French, and singing "Alouette". But, at the very end he thanks "Frankfurt" (Germany), so there could be some confusion on either George's part or the person who supplied me with this video to begin with.
It was first recorded from an over-the-air broadcast on a low frequency UHF channel resulting in the snowy, grainy quality, and the tape itself has not aged well, with lots of interference across the top of the screen, but the sound is still decent and the show is so rare I hope you will enjoy it despite these flaws.

Watching this concert I noticed that the beat of Jon's drum seems to match George's voice couple with Ms.Terry background vocals add in Mike's bass and Roy's guitar the Culture Club is a match made in Heaven.😊❤

Watching and can't stop the tears coming up....37 years ago i was a 14 years old French schoolboy from the suburbs of paris who got wind of that concert at l espace Ballard ..when asked dad to go the answer was . What?to see that thing..yeah sorry George...that thing!...not for my age .. Now watching what i missed that day on the 23 October is so emotional....thanks for uploading....god bless.

Poor George probably faced a LOT of bigotry when the band was starting out! But his voice was SO soulful and wonderful that it carried him past all that!🎶🎶

This area was so différent than today, people wanted to have fun. I was a french child, I remember old and young people were speaking about histoire look but more about his beautiful voice. Hé was very sucessful. It was more difficult in 1985/86.

This is the best! 2 COTPMinds (pre CBN) 2 DYRWTHMes. Foundry clothes. I liked George’s voice then: higher register (Take Control), a little less sweet, a little louder, and less vibrato. Just my opinion. Blows me away that a 21 year old could pen “Time”..so classic. Thank you for uploading!

I agree with you I prefer his younger voice too!! However his voice is "less sweet" nowadays. It was more sweet and honey when he was young. He can still do vibrato now BUT in his youth it was a higher register. And yah he was such a pro lyricist

@@ivyvines6708 It's such a shame this was never put onto VHS. Imagine this in the same quality as A Kiss Across The Ocean. Its such an early concert and the imagery is so iconic. Even the backdrop at the back of the stage. There is probably a pristeen reel of film in a tin box somewhere in a warehouse in France with this on in all its glory. Its such a great find isn't it I love it 😊

I am not sure where you found this but thank you my dear! Culture Club back in 1982 that is 37 years ago now. Beguiling and magical in all ways. For those of us that know these songs intimately because we have heard them since day one, live and recorded with their original arrangements. You can hear that this is early days because George is new to the songs and you can hear how much he and the band are enjoying the act of performing them in front of a crowd. I wonder what venue this was in?

Well CC maybe not as big as in the 80s anymore but George is still making music to this day. Hes definitely not irrelevant. Been on The Voice, and recently had a live streaming concert Dec 18th

My absolute favorite artists, George being one and also the 2nd youngest of them, haven't taken any 'time off' despite hearing nothing new or more recent about them in *mainstream* media.. It's always pissed me off.. Decades of amazing work that no one but those of us with our ears to the ground or sometimes just being close enough to the grapevines at the right time seem to be aware of.., although seeing the reactions of someone who simply didn't/doesn't know they're not only alive and well but there's *A LOT* to add to their collection, not to mention tours... Seeing the positive reactions to hearing the 'Breaking News' (to them) is *so* worth it! 🎶🤍🕊

I actually love George's husky voice in this. My goodness Helen Terry is darn amazing and her hair is BRILL + Helen Terry is THEEEEEEEE best Female voice EVER and I sincerely mean that, she can't be matched by any other. And the extra synths on Take Control are WOWZERZ !!!!!! And Jon Moss with the reel to reel and Simmons drums, FIERCE! And look at the image on the back of the screen of the Black Boy in the insert of Kissing To Be Clever!!!!! I LOVE how George says do you know what fucking is? And do you know what dancing is? If only Karma Chameleon never happened and George didn't become so doll like. Only hardcore fans know THIS Culture Club, oh yeah xxxxx Does anyone else think that White Boys (Can't Control it) is Culture Club's most serious MASTERPIECE? It would have been such a brilliant single, it's so Post Punk and I always hear a little Siouxsie & The Banshees in it, it's so phenomenal. It's SUCH a pity Culture Club never perform the GEMS from Kissing To be Clever anymore, I get bored at their shows now as they never touch the hardcore fan classic and only do the common material. I thought I'd mention that this would've been in 1983 not 1982 because Helen Terry didn't join CC till 1983 and Church of the poison mind came out about June 1983 just before Colour by Numbers was released in September that year.

Early 1983 possibly. I saw them on the Colour By Numbers tour, in Brighton in September of that year, and they were in Paris a month later, but different set list, and much more from that album.
