I’ve seen MRE last over 20 years and still taste perfectly fine. Especially if they are actually military issued. Having cases of them is perfectly fine in a long term prep situation, especially if you mix them in with other types of canned foods, rice, beans, ect. In a SHTF situation, MRE will most definitely keep you alive and well.

As a collector of MREs from their inception to today, I think as a civilian option and a supplement to a well stocked pantry isn’t a bad idea. As long as they are stored, they can last a while. Thanks for sharing

I have personally eaten MREs that were stored in a shipping container that got really hot, and they tasted just fine

I think most MRE's taste good even after their referred date

I've had MRE Star MREs before and they were NOT like the MREs we had in the military. They have 1/2 the calories and taste HORRIBLE. I wouldn't spend a dime on that brand.

I find MRE Star to be crap! The box I had was all the same except the main entree. Same cookies or nuts, practically no drinks (no coffee), and none of my 12 came with anything to put on the crakers. It was really a gutted down MRE. Seriously, like have of a gov MRE.

I have talked to Marine Special Forces and they ate them for 90 days. Sorry man, you are way off.
